Ford had a standard three storey Admiralty type tower, unfortunately there’s not many left, Culdrose had one until about the late 80s.
The designs vary a little but Lossiemouth still has one in use but it is well and truly modified now,
There are some out of use ones, Fearn, Henstridge & Hinstock spring to mind.

There’s a way round that Mark, mount the grip to a hollow tube then attach that to a nicely presented wooden box, feed the cable through the tube and box top or side, and bind it up within the box.
My Vixen grip is for my cockpit so the cabel is still attached to it.

I was watching the centre cap with a view to bidding, I genuinely couldn’t believe how much it went for. With prices like this being commanded it will just push people with lesser means out of the collection market.

It is the expansion period watch office which survives Rob, its one of only five 1936 Chief Flying Instructor block types built – hence concern over its well being.
You must mean the early 1960s post-war split-vertical type? that may have gone but there are plenty of these about, including the one I’m typing from now!

BTW I didn’t realise you were a member on AIX. I will let you pop the question about the post-war towers’ status!:)

I read somewhere that the control tower and some of the hangars at Little Rissington have been demolished. Anyone know if this is true?

Peter, I certainly wouldn’t suggest that you or anyone here would say that, just seperating this seller from some of the more, shall we say “more than economical with the truth” traders seen on the Bay of Es!

BTW, check their other items for sale, all 3,470 of them!

Re the Twinpin prop, I think the seller has probably been genuine enough here, but has been sold a wrong un.
I can’t see why they would claim it as one thing and then go to the lengths they have to give the measurements, detailed pics, and all the part numbers etc.

That would be the easiest and best solution, both for the airframe and visitors.
It would be missed on the RAF gate though, its been there for almost 25 years, and how long will CAF be on site?

They certainly have that odd trailing edge shape, I think you may have nailed it!
I think the seller may have his sizes mixed up, compare stated prop blade length against diameter.

This thread started about moving a Shackleton to Airbase at St Mawgan, just think it a waste of time and money with a suitable airframe already on site, better to spend on saving and relocating other airframes.

I suppose it could be argued for any Shackleton joining the collection that it woud be publicly accessable, where as if WL795 remains as an RAF gate guard it won’t be. I guess moving a Shack to Cornwall is a hypothetical argument anyway.
