his telphone number was 937 0902
which would make 1955 more sence
Apart from the October 1984 that he alludes to in the text of the letter?
I wonder if sometimes, when someone is killed in flying, that the rest of the family don’t want any reminder or evidence left of the flying activities?
Also worth noting that ‘lost forever’ could be accidental through moving or flood etc, or even squirelled away in an unkown collection, though I don’t know in Davids’ cases above.
David, have you ever come across Gordon Slades’ logbooks?
Fantastic, and after Chris and the gangs work on the Harrier T.2 restoration this will be great when completed. With Nigel Walpole on board it should be even better, and it’s great to see Jetart have put up a webpage on the project.
Considering it was at a scrappies for so long, I’m amazed how complete the cockpit and everything else appears to be.
For me this has to be the most eagerly awaited static restoration.
PS, completely concur with Chris about the ‘Sound Barrier’, finest aviation film ever IMHO!
Hercs didn’t always park their props in a ‘+’ therefore it’s hard to argue that the RAFM is wrong, even if it wasn’t standard practice.
Looking through pictures on the net it seems that ‘202 has been displayed with props in both positions.
Great to see the practice bail-out shots, something you don’t normally think of.
Nice formation of jet, hooked Spitefuls!
Were you away?!:D Thanks to you both for continuously posting these images.
Fascinating, thanks for the reply.
It’s great to see such unusual types from that time frame to be so well looked into.
I have to ask Dave, how do you know the smallest details about the recovery like that, from eyewitnesses or documented etc?
Pembroke, at almost 20 years must be one of the longest serving types with 60?
Great resolution and outcome, glad common sense prevailed.
Welcome back chaps, and thanks to Paul mcmillan for highlighting the situation for us.
Hi Steve, if you do manage to resize the image it would be great to see it here.

What became of the story of chunks of ‘Kee Bird’ moving to Holland?
Wow, now there’s a type that I would love to see complete, best of luck with the restoration!
One Webbie?!
The fact that there is one webmaster that has come back from holiday to find this situation worries me!
Surely a forum of this magnitude (possibly largest aviation forum?) needs enough webbies looking out for it to cover holidays, sickness and weekends.
Also begs the question, if he was away and came back to this, who issued the ban?
This has has all been woefully dealt with at the top, and I can entirely see Andy’s point.
He was quite chipper on Saturday morning when I spoke to him, but sounds deafeted now.
I also understand that all that was revealed in the offending thread was information that is already in public domain.
I just hope that Peter and Andy will get their explanation, apology, and welcome back.
Down to earth one for me, either remember to whom I lent it, or for the person to come forward with, my video of St Mawgan with the two Nimrod incidents, Buccaneer belly landing, and various IAD air shows on it, all nicely prodced by the RAF video unit on the station.
