I think it would be a great shame to see the likes of the Varsity and Shackleton disposed of by the IWM and again shows an under appreciation of hugely important training and maritime types in the post war RAF era.
Also disposal of the Sea Venom/Venom seems to be a sad loss to what is quite a good little Fleet Air Arm collection.

I agree that museums have to face difficult decissions about collection policy and numbers of airframes, and it must be hard choosing what is to be kept.

I also do see the attraction in keeping a French Ju-52 or a Spanish 111. Museums are also a great source of entertainment for the public, ie not just enthusiasts that want to see exactly the right, or relevent, version of a type pertaining to the collection on the whole, and I appreciate seeing these two types even if their individual histories aren’t seen as that spectacular or comparitively important.

Andrew Dixon, probably wondering what the fuss is about!

The prop tools are pretty complex, as they involve tight fits and some parts sleeving within hub componants and each other. They must be out there somewhere.

The engine mount ring nuts spanner could probably be made and is something HFL is looking at getting done.
