Personally speaking I really hope that a ‘Super’ K.3 or K.4 tanker (as Cosford are having a transport / tanker C.1K) will be preserved, just because of the incredible service that they have gave in previous lives to the airlines, and given the RAF in the tanker role over many war zones.
K.4 ZD241 would be on my list due to its history and having the most hours flown.

It looks to be an earlier GR.1, and coded B, wonder which serial?
XV281 was a Harrier GR.1 DB which wore those markings for trials on Eagle, looks like an ‘E’ on the tail fin.

I agree that a photographic survey of how it was found is a vital record.
The Leducs (0.10, 0.16, 0.21 & 0.22) were only superficially like the M.52, ie the cockpit being in the centre of the annular fuselage engine intake, the wings were very different.
The 0.10 (0.16 was a brief conversion) & 0.21 were purely ramjet powered and were air launched from a Languedoc, the 22 was swept winged and powered by turbojet aswel as the ramjet.
The Miles was intended to be powered by the afterburning W.2 turbojet of course.
Three Leduc 0.10/16s, two .21s & one .22 were built and flew during the test programme, by brave pilots I reckon! Interestingly project was first commenced in 1938!
The paint finish of the era was gloss finish when first applied, to give a high speed finish.

Good find, but the triangular panel that is hanging off ahead of the windscreen in that pic is in place when this P-40 was discovered.
I notice the original album of the find has gone or been removed.
Baloffski, I’ve only known the latter types as annular, certainly that’s how RR and Flight referred to it in the earlier days, though I have seen referrence to it as can-annular. As they still have individual combustion tubes (8?) but placed within a single casing, can-annular is a better description.
John, Yes that’s a later can-annular type you have, the 207 is the 10K + Ib thrust Avon for the late Mk Hunters such as the FGA.9 and exports. Mk207 equated to RA.28 in Rolls parlance. Should look like the first engine in my above pics.
JT, I have to disagree with your last para, surely it is possible in theory that many examples of museum aircraft could fly?
Yes it would be a massive engineering challange or a major rebuild in most cases, but that would be money and interest driven, if the aircraft needs more money than the interest can deliver then the engineering won’t follow.
Reality is something else of course, suggestions of B-52, Concorde, & SR-71 flying are far fetched, some aircraft such as the aforementioned Sunderland and some notables with wing spar cuts are pretty well non candidates.
I was having a good look around the FAAM Gannet the other day, and there doesn’t appear to be much that could stop that being restored to flight.
The argument of what should fly or remain as static not withstanding of course!

But even read out instruments have far more complicated and finer engineered mechs than what is presented here, be it recent or back to the ’50s, remotely gyro’d or not.
Even a wartime art horizon is more complicated within.
I have a fair few dissected from different eras, I don’t buy this as being flight or development related, unless as a basic demonstration piece, even then it would seem pointless.
Like some of the PPrune ideas, esp Fiat Panda!
