I have been in my loft because we are extending into it soon so all has to go, and I have just found a Lancaster B2 ‘dambuster Airfix kit unopened so thats going on ebay soon. Any bidders ???
I was at home this morning on my own and observed the silence as I always do.
What makes me very proud and brings a tear is come Sunday when we have our Village rememberance service my two daughters (9 and 6) will each lay wreaths from the Brownies and Rainbow guides as they have done for the last three years. They know why they do it and fully understand that the names on the memorial in front of them are men who made the ultimate sacrifice for all of our freedom today.
We will remember them.
Roger Waters refers to ‘F1 ‘s over Oxfordshire on the superb ‘Amused to death’ album. Which is a track the irony of being a hero fighter pilot yet in charge of death at the same time. The F1 I assume is really an F111 but the lyric would not fit and the Oxfordshire bit will be Upper Heyford.
The F1 crashes in the track, which of course happened at UH more that once.

James I can concur with your experience having flown in ‘tother’ maggie from OW.Its just a great aeroplane to bum a ride in, quite the best open cockpit iv’e been in.
I doubt however if Hairyplane will be offering many rides should he get his hands on the object of his desires, however I have my best duster and polish ready Mr Hairyplane sir should you need me!!!.

Whilst I have been going to airshows since the late 50’s ( I was in “triangular pants” as Robbo so nicely described them then ) I don’t remember ever being taken to OW and think I first discovered its charms in the early/mid eighties under my own steam of course by then.
I did wander from the straight and narrow after that and desert her for ‘other shows’ for a few years , but since ‘rehab’ have been able to attend on a fairly regular basis for the last 10 years, in particular the last two seasons after becoming an SVAS member again.I will gradually wean myself off other shows (you are allowed the occasional DX I believe) and become a full time OW devotee.
Its a shame I missed those early days, but its great to be at OW in the 21st century, long may it continue.

It was a horible experince and very frightening, I was struggling to breathe, I could not walk, my throat ,tongue and lips became swollen and worst of all my sight got very limited and I could barely see my mobile to call out. I honestly thought at one stage that I would not be rescued.
But my dog (Bertie)sat by me and licked my face.
Another set of medics had come to the nearest road and legged it over (1/2 mile) to get to me only to be asked by the Chopper medics to make sure my dog was looked after and got home safely (good guys eh)
Nobody has mentioned the Lockheed 12, why ? I thought it was very pretty and a great scoop for legends given its background.
I though in general the show was good, some sunshine would have helped but hey its an English summer.
Shaun Moffat is a good commentator I think, look all you moaners had you been at OW last week and heard the overinflated coffee jockey making a hash you would know just how bad it can get.
I would like to see a Connie night take off as I bet that would be spectacular.

I was told that the costs that Mr Bradshaw was asking TFC to cover were not agreeable with the ‘Gov’ner’.Not sure about the DA, its seems to make sense as its been out of display for so long.
