Bans the sale, transfer, importation, or manufacturing of:
~120 specifically-named firearms
~Certain other semiautomatic rifles, handguns, shotguns that can accept a detachable magazine and have one military characteristic
~Semiautomatic rifles and handguns with a fixed magazine that can accept more than 10 rounds

Strengthens the 1994 Assault Weapons Ban and various state bans by:
~Moving from a 2-characteristic test to a 1-characteristic test
~Eliminating the easy-to-remove bayonet mounts and flash suppressors from the characteristics test
~Banning firearms with “thumbhole stocks” and “bullet buttons” to address attempts to “work around” prior bans

Bans large-capacity ammunition feeding devices capable of accepting more than 10 rounds.

Protects legitimate hunters and the rights of existing gun owners by:
~Grandfathering weapons legally possessed on the date of enactment
~Exempting over 900 specifically-named weapons used for hunting or sporting purposes and
~Exempting antique, manually-operated, and permanently disabled weapons

Requires that grandfathered weapons be registered under the National Firearms Act, to include:
~Background check of owner and any transferee;
~Type and serial number of the firearm;
~Positive identification, including photograph and fingerprint;
~Certification from local law enforcement of identity and that possession would not violate State or local law; and
~Dedicated funding for ATF to implement registration

That’s the national total, christ knows what the majority of them are about. Most people, even rabid anti’s are hard pressed to come up with more than 10 or 12.
Have a go at coming up with more than a dozen gun laws…

I’d suggest your guns are part of the problem because there is always the potential for them to fall into the wrong hands,

Just parking your car someplace, including your own garage leaves it wide open to the potential for it to be used by a drunk driver…? Better come up with more traffic laws.

Why are you waiting for someone to refute it? Will it help you sleep at night? If only 0.00034% of cars on the roads broke the speed limits the cops wouldn’t even bother writing tickets.

& while you at it, explain why 23,000 gun laws *don’t work*.. but surely one more would make all the difference? & you can even propose the 23,001st gun law yourself… remember, it can’t be a duplicate of the other 23,000.

btw, *gun buy backs* are one of the dumbest ideas anyone dreamed up, they give away $200 gift cards for guns that cost $70 new. I saw barrels full of those $70 guns on tv last night. Every time they announce a buy back everyone stocks up on cheap guns, turns them in & makes a fortune. Total waste of tax payers money..

Simple. Drastically fewer guns in circulation would inevitably lessen the chances of one falling into the hands of a nutter.

& who makes the decision about who gets to keep guns they already have & who doesn’t? My guns are secure, there’s no nutters/felons in the house, the house is secure, I abide by the TWENTY THREE THOUSAND gun laws we already have on the books. When I was actively collecting I had a C&R FFL.

So explain to me how passing laws to restrict gun ownership by the 0.00066% who commit crimes with guns is going to stop ONE nutter from doing something along the lines of Newtown again?
It’s the same as suggesting that passing laws to restrict sober people from owning a car is going to help prevent drunk driving.
