And what’s the story on the Cherokee which must be pretty near brand new?

    Moggy

I’m guessing that large field to the left is the airport, which makes that tin shed a hangar 😉

Sadly she turned down my suggestion to name him Hawker Siddley, but both are fine.

Was out on the flight line one day at DX & a couple of the other guys walk up with a senior looking gentleman in tow & introduced him as “Harry Hawker”. I guess my expression must have looked somewhat incredulous as the next comment was “Not THAT Harry Hawker” which was just as well as he’d been dead for about 70 years by that point 😮

Decided to swing by the local swapmeet on Sunday. Hadn’t been there for a couple of months or so…

    Score one:
    4 1/2in Rock Island 574 bench vise.. & don’t ask, I’ve lost count… it’s *about 30*

I also found some hammers, all 4 are Proto….
    As found:

    after a clean up…

By way of experimentation, I decided to try cleaning the two hammer handles that were covered in paint by blasting them with plastic beads. Excellent results as seen in the next pic.

& right now they are getting multiple applications of BLO. For some reason I ignored the 4th hammer at first, but that’s now getting the BLO treatment 🙂 4th ‘mer is really dark, possible Walnut handle…

Hammer heads were glassbeaded & then wirewheeled.

    Any bits left over? 😀

    Brian

There are never any parts left over. This is accomplished by having a brush at one end of the workbench & a trashcan at the other. When the job is *finished* you sweep the bench from the brush end to the trashcan end & this takes care of anything that may have been left on the bench :p

The progress with the Fiat CR.42 has been remarkable, and duly recorded by the conscientious TFC historians:

    Outstanding! LMFAO!!

Read up on psychology used in warfare, especially the parts relating to getting your guys to kill the other guys. It’s not in human nature to kill (sociopaths excepted etc) & it’s been found that when the officer/authority figure isn’t present, the rate of fire towards to the other side drops off quite significantly.
