The 747-8 may have grandfathered in some certification items but I wouldn’t mind betting that being unstable in the landing configuration wasn’t one of them.

It can’t be unstable. It wouldn’t get certified if it was unstable. It was made less stable by shifting the CG aft to reduce the drag. As far as I can make out the tailplane wasn’t enlarged to compensate. This makes it less stable and why it can be a handful to pilots who don’t give it 100% attention.

Are you saying this story is wrong then?

You don’t think the media has influence over the electorate? Staggering, simply staggering.

Careful bazv, your true colours are showing again.;)

Anyone who thinks the media have no influence in the outcome of modern elections are wide of the mark. Newspaper backing is regarded by all parties as a major player in election strategy.

    Remember this?

I’m sure Bmused55 will be along at some point to tell us why he described the MD-11 as a “Dangerously unstable machine!” . I’m looking forward to that.

Managed a return trip to Vancouver in KLM MD-11s – out in PH-KCG and back in PH-KCB. Business class – very nice.
Because of the operating economics, I’m surprised KLM carried on as long as they did with the MD-11. Great looking aircraft though.

    Dangerously unstable machine!

    Really? Tell us more.

I know what an oxymoron is, Mr Green, (the benefit of an education), this simply isn’t one. Nicely veiled insult though, keep it up. You’ll get what you want eventually.

I could give many examples of values and principles from New Labour but frankly, I couldn’t care less what you think. At least you haven’t resorted to insult but I suppose that’ll be next.

As far as old “old” Labour was concerned, well I’m a bit too young to remember most of those you mention.

(It isn’t an oxymoron either by the way)

Maybe it isnโ€™t fair to โ€˜blameโ€™ the media (who mostly supported New Labour in 1997); maybe it is what the electorate actually wanted!

I was more thinking of the media coverage that lost Labour the 1992 election.
