I never said I knew what caused 111, in fact, I said no one really does.

Yes they do. It is only you who seem to think it was something else.

Anyway, tell your mate, best of luck hand-flying in RVSM airspace, I’m sure he’s popular with ATC.

    Only 1 to go now

hey could have made the population of the country far happier by taking 63 million of the 93 it cost for the bike track and give £1 million to every person in the country.

Arithmetic not your strongest subject is it.

I’m afraid some have already escaped and sullied the otherwise positive Olympic supporter’s thread.

Lots of people are interested in sport and why not? It provides good news among death, war, destruction, doom and gloom. If that’s where you want to be then fair enough but many don’t.
Sport is the same as art , hobbies, reading books etc. Ultimately useless in terms of survival of the species but done for the pure enjoyment of it. If other people can take pleasure in your achievement then what is wrong with that?
As far as BBC coverage is concerned, why shouldn’t they cover it completely – it is probably the only time in most of our lives that the Olympics will be in the UK so they are giving it their best shot. Good for them.
Never mind though, in a couple of weeks it will be over and you can go back to enjoying whatever it was you enjoyed doing before.

Meanwhile, back at the thread…. What a great day GB had yesterday, some great performances but all overshadowed by Michael Phelps with now a total of 20 Olympic medals. Stunning. Mind Sir Chris did all right as well…

He said in RVSM airspace that he would request a block of 4000′ if he ever had to do it.

Really! “Your friend” has obviously failed to understand what RVSM even stands for. You cannot hand fly the aircraft in RVSM airspace. End of.

    From TGL 6
An automatic altitude control system is required capable of controlling altitude within ±20 m (±65 ft) about the selected altitude,

I think if you really know what caused Swissair 111 then you need to let the authorities in on it as well.

My BS detector is in the red now.

Most airliners can be tricky to at 30000ft. In fact, in RVSM airspace, you aren’t allowed to handfly the aircraft .

I haven’t even mentioned the one that flipped over at altitude when one of the pilots had the temerity to slightly brush the flap handle…….nor the fact that no one really knows what happened to Swissair 111.

China Eastern 583 incident was caused by the pilot selecting the slats in the cruise inadvertently. Swissair 111 was caused by a fire started in faulty wiring. Unless you know different….

Single pilot aircraft, night, possibly IMC, busy airspace, electrical failure. Yes I would have thought flying with only a map and compass would be a problem.

If Ryanair are willing pay for the structural mods required then I’m sure someone will oblige. 🙂

Putting in a freight door would be perfectly feasible and would perhaps sum up what Ryanair thinks of its passengers.

Wouldn’t a wider door mean potentially less seat rows?
