….I suppose I should have known better than to ask………

Pilatus P-2 up from Panshanger 16.35hrs. Earlier a Vari Eze took off from there and turned S. – haven’t seen either type in there before.
Just for you, low’n’slow. I must say that these machines are a brilliantly simple yet effective design, with their built-in wing slats and one-piece elevators.
BobMm – thanks for the correction, I blame the mistake on senior memory allied with senior eyesight, a lethal combination. I will certainly try to be at Little Gransden on the 28th., it’s one of my favourite venues. I just need to memorise the route and put my glasses on.
Regarding the WACOs, there were numerous people with cameras at the Revival Day, I’m surprised nobody else has posted any pics – there must have been a few forumites there.
Panshanger is holding an aerobatics day on Saturday 3rd.September – might a certain well known aero. display pilot be paying a visit , other commitments permitting?
Thanks Anna – I often feel that a ‘lovely stuff’ from you is equivalent to a blue star at school – if I collect six ‘lovely stuffs’ will I receive a gold star ?
(do they still have blue & gold stars in schools, or am I really showing my age ?)
‘Reflections in a Silver Spinner’ or ‘Self Portrait in Chrome’ – apart from the fact that this is a vanity shot, I was intrigued that the label to the left of the spinner on the Spartan bore the name ‘Coddington’. Any connection with the Hot Rod guy ?
Ideally, Vulc, you should be aiming for a DSLR with a half decent zoom or prime lens. The excellent pics that you see on this forum are done on equipment which costs far in excess of your budget of £220. This amount will buy you a bridge camera with a built-in, non-interchangable zoom lens, but even a lot of these will be beyond your means. Might I suggest that you read up on the Panasonic TZ45, which currently retails for around £250, although you’ll probably find cheaper on line, particularly as it has just been superceded by the TZ48. Another camera to consider is the Fuji Finepix HS10, which has been replaced by the HS20. The HS10 is currently slightly more expensive than the Panasonic I’ve mentioned. These cameras will have their compromises due to their price/market position but can produce an acceptable pic if you don’t want to go for super enlargements/heavy cropping. Good luck, and let us know what you buy. A good site for on-line reviews is DPReview, if you’re not already aware of it.
A few more – Piper J-4E Cub Coupe G-BSDJ; Tipsy Trainer G-AISA, one of two examples present; Tipsy Trainer cockpit; Fokker EIII – the GPS in the cockpit rather gives the game away that this is a replica; Porterfield CP-50, a real rarity and one I’d not heard of before; information plate alongside Tipsy Belfair, photo of which in #1.
Them’s real nice pics, Ashley. You’ve done well to include location backgrounds in some of the shots, and the ‘from above’ with the sea as ruffled backdrop makes for something different, thanks for posting.
Scouse
the spurious ‘overheating’ alarm can be fixed by a download, newer product off the line should have it already installed. Let me know how you get on with the HS20, I’m thinking of buying one as I just can’t afford a DSLR plus batch of lenses.
Thanks Oz – there was indeed another Waco there, a UPS-7 model. Later that evening both models took off in loose formation as well, making a lovely sight and sound
