Money well spent – as was the Baldock By-Pass and it’s Weston Hills Tunnel ( I can get to Duxford 15 minutes quicker than previously).
Give it a year and nobody will complain about the cost.

As a slight deviation from the arguments, I wonder if Old Warden will fly their Martlet (Grumman) in formation with their Martlet (Southern) ?
Yes, Sat2, you’ve got it in one. We realise all film adaptions involve compromise but losing 10″ from the main man is pushing it a bit. Perhaps they’ll do what was (allegedly) done in Alan Ladd films and dig trenches for the other actors to stand in so that he would appear to be taller.

If anybody is warbirded-out after Saturday’s display, there’s a nice gentle fly-in for de H. types at Panshanger on Sunday.
If I can sell my Bonneville SSEi at the Rally Of The Giants in Knebworth Park that morning, I’ll be along.
As a final postscript to this hijacked thread, a local twitcher tells me that there are 7 pairs of Red Kites living within four miles of Panshanger, so they’ve spread over a wider area than I thought.
Beech 18 over Panshanger heading NE at 13.00hrs
Doh !! Janie is the name I meant to type, why the dickens did I put Annie – I must have had a ‘senior’ moment….
Some nice shots and some unusual angles there, AW, thanks for posting. In the shots on your Flickr page, is the lass cutting the ‘birthday cake’ by any chance Annie ?
An old friend, WP.
Here on the northern edge of the London TMA, the week-end summer sky is normally throbbing with light aeroplanes, but today, one Chipmunk plodding back from Panshanger, and two red kites going backwards !
Veering slightly off-topic, Propstrike, but taking the cue from your post – I was out walking the dog over near Panshanger airfield last week when I noticed what I took to be a Red Kite soaring aloft in the wind over the strip, and doing a good job of travelling backwards. I wasn’t aware that there were any in the London area, thanks for confirming my sighting.(Now an expert twitcher is going to post and say it wasn’t a Red Kite, but a Bengalese fish-eating Parrot or something).
Not being a number cruncher, WP, I must confess I don’t know. She doesn’t appear in the digital pics on my PC – I have more shots in my film camera but have yet to finish the reel (reminder to myself, always recharge your batteries the day before).
a few more quick pictures from a good occasion – (and a special mention should go to the club’s catering staff, who were very busy all day long).
