The nearest aircraft has lines drawn on the wings. Is this for ground attack?
They look similar to the lines found on aerobatic aircraft.
Only got to see her a few times but will always be remembered by the spilt S take off from Biggin Hill one year. Amazing power.
Interesting quote from the Pope.

I kind of agree with him. Not a world war in the traditional sense but a piece meal war thought by many countries, on many fronts.
12:00 hours today. Spitfire beating up Blackbush Airport 🙂
Hello chaps,
I’ve been going through some photos which are in Bottisham Airfield Museum’s archive and came across this one:
Can anyone ID which airfield that is? It’s likely to be one around the Cambridge area I’d guess.
Guessing but how about Steeple Morden?
If the 109 E from Canada has returned to the UK (as posted elsewhere) would it be politically correct to allow it to partake in the anniversary? I see no reason why not
What is Northolt like as a venue? Is there easy access by road or are we looking at a limited ticket affair?
Well for a start, it appears to have changed its spelling. 😉
Moggy
Now sorted.
I was being ironic. Well, okay I can’t spoil – err, I mean spell.
You can also find these in some garden centers. I bought one about a year ago. Very nice.
I agree. The loss of the side exhibits was a negative experience for me.
To have an hour walking around the exhibits. Seeing the uniforms, models and artifacts. Was a great build up to finally entering the aircraft display area.
Especially as a kid when you didn’t want the day to end.
They need to improve the atmosphere in the museum. Aircraft can be sterile without the dioramas and settings.
Does anyone know what was wrong with the Hellcat?
It departed Shoreham and headed direct to Duxford with technical problems.
What makes me laugh is when you see a sign in a shop saying,
“Sale now on. Everything must go!”
Like, when the sale is not on they only want to sell a few things?
Chemists that have Immodeum at the impulse counter near the checkout. Lets be honest either you have the ****s or you don’t.
As for tv adverts two that make me cringe.
The SEAT ad with the kid and the spaceship. Yes I want to buy a car that has flashing red bits for tunnel driving.
The mouth wash that states “for people who’s gums bleed when they brush”. Glad they don’t do Analsol.
At what point in parenthood do you decide it’s time to take your children to a gun range to fire a machine gun?
I guess it’s a cultural thing but apart from an air pistol when I was 15 I’ve never fired a gun.
I don’t think there was any danger to the craft because of passengers smoking. If there had been a leak of hydrogen it would not have escaped downwards as the gas is lighter than air.
I remember reading that the Zeppelins were a surprisingly safe mode of transport with a good safety record.
Yes the Hindenburg was a disaster but try to think of another that wasn’t shot down?
Good tyrants all gone? Try adding a few bad ones!!!
By good I meant historically meaty.
Come on, Hitler was a genocidal f**k head but he does make great TV. The Hitler, sorry History channel is pretty much devoted to him.
There is probably not one member of this forum that doesn’t have a book which relates to Hitler or the Second World War in some way.
Two Lancasters?
As I read in one book `War makes damn good reading`.
Yes the second world war was terrible, but in some way we are enriched by it.
It is remarkable, we have two pilots with us who have prosthetic arms, a captain (this chap) and a first officer. Both of them are excellent and are no less capable or safe than our able bodied personnel.
It is nice to see that flying is not off limits to the disabled. I haven’t taught any physically disabled people but I have taught a few people with mental disabilities. It’s very rewarding.
Well, flying with a prosthetic arm, you have to hand it to him.
