Aermacchi and Yakolev start together the develop of a new trainer in early 90’s. The project was not ‘stolen’. The design was Yakolev. They split up cause Macchi wants to put western (and better) electronics. It’s worth nothing that in the field of aerodynamics the russians are great (look at the Flanker).
