I also have my doubts if these pics are really true. ……i´m looking for confirmation.
A-29
I lived very close to Congonhas airport (five minutes by car). I travelled so many times through this airport, For those who don´t know Congonhas it looks like an aircraft carrier, with no escape areas, completely sorrounded by houses, buildings and big avenues with huge traffic almost every day, specially at the rush hour when you can see the planes passing right above your head (specially when you cannot drive due to the traffic jam).
It is not allowed for a pilot make mistakes on approach to land on this airport. But it always was safe to operate (this airport is almost 70 years old). The government do not installed the grooving on the runway which would help, specially with rain, the aircrafts to stop at a safer limit at the end of the runway.
As this is the busiest airport in Brazil, used as a hub for the major companies such as Gol and TAM, they pushed the government to reopen the runway. It was good up to the first rain, which caused the skid of a Pantanal ATR-42 and the very next day this tragedy with the A-320.
According to one top Air Force Brigadier (equivalent to General) the A-320 made the correct landing approach with the correct speed. But one important thing that was not mention in this thread yet. The same A-320 had presented problems in the week before the accident. According to one captain from TAM, who gave an interview on TV, they managed to stop the same airplane, three days before the crash, at the very end of the runway and the runway was totally dry.

2nd Profile – Mig-29

Ja..happy birthday and wish you all the best. I´m just waiting the pic ok?
Cheers from Brazil.

I don´t believe that AMV will get AMXs from Brazil late this year, even if this article is accurate.
The AMX production line has been closed for almost a decade. The original 79 ordered by FAB, only 53 were delivered. FAB has 33 operational and 20 kept as reserve, mostly single seaters. As far as I know AMV ordered 12 two seaters.

Brazilian A-4s are less advanced than the Argentinian A-4s.
The Argenitnians A-4s are equiped with APG-66 radar, can carry latest versions of the Sidewinder as well as smart bombs (i do not know if Argentine AF has such weapons).
Brazilian A-4s are older ones, equiped with AIM-9H, buddy refuelling pods and only dumb bombs. I don´t think an upgrade will be made in near future due to lack of budget as the Navy wants to focus on subs.
Regards,
Well, I think we have 06 operational jets out of 23. The intention in the begginning was to have 15 jets fully operational and ready to deploy on the carrier São Paulo, former Foch.
Right now the carrier remains on dock for more than a year finishing the repairs due to an explosion that killed some sailors.
I don´t think the Navy wants to buy FA2s, they are focusing the budget on the purchase of new subs. My personal opinion is to scrap São Paulo and buy land based aircraft throughout the country (used Hornets and Vikings)

“respect ? You mean i offended brazilian paratroopers? Sorry i didn’t say they were brazilian…Only uderstand it was in brazilian jungle from what he said… Very sorry if i offended anyone ! And thanks for the compliment, I’m a dragqueen myself…”
it is because the way that you wrote caused this interpretation. No one have mentioned the word gay in previous posts…no matter which side…Brazilian or guerrilla. On the other hand, I had no right to call you a Drag Queen, but I got offended, and I apologize you for that. But that´s ok, let´s go back to the topic in question.
Best regards,
Scooter,
I prefer the Flanker…but the lobby for the RAFALE is very strong. But what surprises me is the non inclusion of other types in the biding such as the Super Hornet, F-16 Block 52.

“C’mon, it’s easy… He’s talking about gorillas fighting with gay paratroopers in Brazilian jungle… Simple…”
Danielari,
It is not polite from your side. You should have more respect in your statement. I don´t know where are you from..and doesn´t matter…..and for your information, Danielari is the name of a famous “Drag Queen” in Brazil.
Regards,
Glitter,
According to unofficial sources, the target is the fourth option that you listed in your message.
Regards,
Very funny.
Nothing official, but the plan, if Su-35 wins, is for transfer of technology as well as full package of weapons and also to be built locally. I imagine a quick delivery.
But the news came from a important newspaper, there is no official statement…let´s see what happens in near future.
Cheers
“Gorilla Warfare”
🙂 Pretty funny…but there are no Gorillas in that region……..only in Africa.
Cheers
“I think the the sheer size of Brazil and the lack of radar coverage of remote areas of the amazon require Brazil to have a credible and responsive fighter.”
With the implementation of SIVAM, the Amazon region are completely covered by RADAR. The flow of illegal planes has been reduced quite well but conitnues. My opinion that we can´t rely only on the Super Tucano despite it is a great aircraft, perfect to intercept slow airplanes. Other thing is that the quantity of Super Tucanos is low..only three squadrons. To increase the presence in the region, we need a fighter jet, that´s the reason why the government has plans to creat an air defense group there.
“yes, Brazil fight big war with Paraguay and almost fight Argentina two time. very bad.”
We have very good relationships with both countries. The war with Paraguay was in 18th or 19th century….long ago and the rivalry with Argentina exists, specially in soccer :). Several exercises between both Air Forces were made during the past years and this year also, both here and there.
Regards,
The fact that there were two evaluations in the past…the first one the Gripen was the winner and the second one the Flanker won. Both had been dropped because of the strong lobby for the Mirage 2000Br with Embraer involved etc….
The Gripen was not considered this time. Most FAB senior officials and some politicians are very very impressed with the RAFALE, but in the other hand some ministers, including the foreign minister are supporting the purchase of the Flanker……specially after Venezuelan AF purchase of 22 Su-30 (04 will arrive by next month).
