Done!
I have to say the one loss in the BA collection that made me particularly angry was the Trident 1. Beautifully preserved and maintaned, her electrics were still serviceable and there was a dedicated group looking after her regularly. To have the aircraft reduced to a flightdeck (not even a full nose or forward fuselage) was pretty sickening. I really don’t understand why the BA collection was disposed of so very quickly, there should have been more notice given so that more preservation efforts could have been considered.
Regards the 707, I’d heard it was in deteriorating health even before the BA collection disposal, so it may have had to be reduced to produce in due course anyway…
Footage of the 1979 race from a US TV sports show is on youtube. The footage includes the Red Baron accident, and an interview with a very youthful Steve Hinton after his recovery in hospital. Watching the footage makes you realise how lucky we are to still have Steve with us…
As far as I’m aware, ‘climbing like homesick angel’ is/was a fairly common americanism that stretches back to WW1. Anything with a decent rate of climb seems to have been worthy of the phrase, from the P51 to the Neiuport 28.
There’s an example in RAF colours at the Muckleborough Collection.
Great shots Robban, I suppose you must get a bit tired of SAAB types at Swedish shows but to me that looks like a dream line-up! 😀
The 747’s original cowlings are standing up on thier leading edges near the old control tower. They appear to be being used as skips as they’re full of rubbish!
Thanks for the pics Trauma, it was a great little show.
Sounds like Kennet Aviation’s Westland Wasp, it often drops in on OW shows.
Chinook in the vicinity of Twickenham rugby stadium, heard rather than seen. Odd to have a Wocka flying around so close to Heathrow traffic…
Nosegear on Tridents retracted sideways, hence the off-centre position when down.
Missed it.

I have a copy here, I’d be happy to send you a cutting if you can’t get hold of a copy.
That’s brilliant mate! I can imagine you’ve all been working your proverbials off on this one for several years, it’s great to see the film getting the airing it deserves.
Congratulations!!
Lovely shots John, thanks for sharing. The second Sea Fury shot is a real peach!
That damn wind again…
From a Beech to a beach…

Polish or polished?? How about both?? 🙂 Mike Gladych’s P47 with waxed and polished leading edges…
