There are two surviving Lincolns in Argentina, B-010 in the museum in Buenos Aires and B-016 on the gate at Villa Reynolds AF Base. That makes four survivors if you include the collection of bits in Australia.
Edit: Well I’ve just Googled B-010, and apparently it is in fact B-004 dressed up as B-010…
You can display swastikas in Germany for historical reasons if you have official permission to do so, which means you can have swastikas displayed on some museum aircraft but never on airworthy aircraft.
How did we get from Thunder city to BBMF?? 😀
Anyway, with regard to what happens to BBMF in future I think it will be a case decided by public opinion rather than whether there are any veterans left. There was talk a few years back about cutting the Red Arrows, there was a media campaign and online petition and the idea was quietly shelved. Fingers crossed BBMF can be preserved as long as the public wish it to remain.
It’s a Piper Cub.
Edit: Okay, it’s a Super Cub! 🙂
Weren’t some ex-French Skyraiders also recovered from Chad?
There is a 1970’s air-air photo I’ve seen somewhere of a P38 being flown with both engines shut down for the benefit of the cameras. I guess the pilot must have felt pretty confident about the glide characteristics.
Good to see the SeaVixen will be getting another public outing this year, looks like a good show. Just a shame I can’t be there :(.
Will Yves Rossi be flying or is he a guest?? If flying I’m imagining he’ll make a splash- literally!! 😀
Thanks for these Peter, very interesting to see the progress on the Mossie!
What’s the current situation with the Lanc’s centre-section repairs? If I remember right, there was talk of repairing the current centre-section spar in situ rather than having to replace it.
Does anyone know what, if any, plans are in the pipeline for preservation of some of the older C-130’s? After decades of service it would be a great shame not have a few of the older K’s in preservation.
Pic of WP870 from AirBritain:
The one at Cosford is permenantly airborne 🙂 :

You might be thinking of the T.5 two-seater at Cranfield:

Wow, unusual paintjob on that A26! It’s actually a Douglas A26 Invader rather than a Martin B26 Marauder. The designation of the A-26 was changed to B26 (the Martin Marauder was largely out of service by then) in 1947, and it’s been a source of endless confusion ever since!
Thanks for these pics, it’s great that the BCATP is still being commemorated so strongly.
There’s one in German markings that’s regularly seen around Europe. It’s owned and flown by Tony de Bruyn, and it used to be based at Duxford. Not sure where it’s housed these days.

Edit: Looking on the events page of the above site, she’s been displaying at East Fortune today which probably explains where she was going.
A little bird tells me it was EI-JIV, an L100-30, flying in from EastMidlands on behalf of DHL.
I agree she wasn’t a great role model in life Baz, but the fact that it ruined her career and probably claimed her life is a clear illustration of what these problems can do to you. Those in the spotlight who take drugs and drink heavily etc are rather like extremist politicians in that the more coverage you give them, the bigger fools they make of themselves.
