What are the other airfields in your overhead shots, aside from Cardington and Cambridge? Interesting to see a wartime airfield with all three runways still operational…
Fitting it with Jumo’s would seem the most sensible way to please all parties, as Al’s production line pic a few posts back shows, early CASA’s had German-supplied engines. It would need other mods too, such as the cockpit and upper gunner’s glazing. Quite a job, but if she has to be substantially rebuilt anyway…
She would then be a Luftwaffe spec, Spanish built example.
Great shots, thanks for these. As Frakky says, slightly ironic that all of them are G- or EI- reg’ed!
Passed through Faro on my holidays last November, and yes it’s quite a ‘snug’ little airport with good views. Was chuffed to see one of the EMA-operated Kamov Ka-32’s taking-off there just before my flight back to UK departed, never seen one of those before. There’s also an OGMA-built Auster hanging in the terminal.
You wouldn’t be tired of blue skies if you lived locally wiseman! 😀 We’ve had alot of cloudy, windy, and/or rainy conditions this year. I don’t think any of the pre-WW1 aircraft at Shuttleworth have flown yet this year because the wind/weather has been difficult.
Great shots though Nick, any more?
Fantastic – what’s the motorcycle?
It looks like the collection’s own Scott Squirrel sidecar.
As others have said, the DH.51 looks very nice indeed. Is the new paint a kind of removable acrylic, or something longer term?
If I remember rightly, the B24 is the most numerous heavy bomber in history, rather than the most produced military aircraft.
As others have said, great shots! Would I be right in thinking the Jordanian and Decca airframes are one in the same?
Looks like rather an old photo (dated 2006), so these aren’t the most recently retired airframes.
Like Phile I’d be interested to hear about the Canberra…
Adlertag
Rarity
Curtiss props are a lot less common. Luckily the P47 can fly with either.

Mark
Thanks for the info! Considering that so many P47’s were already being retrofitted with Hamiltons during the war, I suppose it’s hardly surprising that the Curtiss is a rarity.
Thanks for these Si, and welcome to the mad, mad world of the Historic forum! (Although we’re arguably not as crazy as the people on Modern Military..!).
Considering it’s been derelict so many years, it’s not looking too bad.
Thanks for these simon, and welcome! Is there still a Dassault Super Mystere sinking into the weeds at Andrewsfield?
Well there’s not much I can say that hasn’t already been said, except to add my appreciation and congratulations to everyone who’s worked on her over the years. Well done one and all!
I hope I won’t take the thread too much off track, but why do most airworthy P47’s these days have the Hamilton prop rather than the Curtiss? Is it rarity or is there a technical reason?
There’s a page with photo’s on facebook:

I also posted this link in the thread I just posted about the first flight. Great minds…:)
EDIT: Pulled the thread I started to save duplication.
The link below includes a couple of shots of Dominies arriving at Kemble (and a couple of the Meteor T.7 making her first post-restoration flight!) :
Excellent picture JetFlap, there can’t be too many colour photo’s around of Vulcans in the early silver finish.
