If I was a soldier, an overconfident commander like yourself is exactly what I would hate to have. You are on the best way to expose his troops to unnecessary danger just because you’re too arrogant to devote a second thought to the possible capabilities of the enemy. But since you only are an armchair general, feel free to continue, you can do no harm from where you sit.. At least I hope so, for your fellow soldiers.. 😉

Why Do you feel that I’m an “Overconfident Commander” have I shown any of my hand no matter of fact I haven’t said anything of my plan.

The funny thing about threads like these are most of the stuff is complete BS. The person who started this thread decide to thrown in aircraft and missile systems that Iran doesn’t have no one as even mention what type of attacks the US would undertake.

I’m far from “Overconfident” but I will say this if I was planning this type of an attack it would be a total all out one time hit to take everything of theirs out and I do mean everything.

Military strikes are nice but it still doesn’t remove the problem and that is were everyone has gone astray in this thread.:diablo:

Scorpion89, surely you must have noticed that some people around here love to speculate and argue about things in a very confident manner. I guess it’s easy to get into it when you’re engaged in a debate. A little heat, annoying claims and arguments coming at you, a little “I’m right and you’re wrong”-attitude, the need to “win” whatever it takes..

You seem confident yourself. I’m not saying that it’s wrong or that I’ve been much better myself, though.. 🙂

Yes Viper allot of folks like to debate but this thread is a joke first you and I know that there would never be an Air War over Iran why because the US Air Power would destroy the Iran Air Defensive and Air Force before they knew the Auto plate of the Semi that ran them over.

Folks here like I said are very funny and allot of them are full of Doggie poo and really don’t have an idea what they are talking about. Am I saying I do no but I know when not to make stupid comments hows that for you.:D

Since when did McDonnell make DC-4’s?:D

You mean like Boeing making F/A-18s:diablo: :p

Also I notice a few things wrong with the photos the one showing the spare mains and engine mount thats not in 914 I know that when it left Mass. it didn’t have anything extra stuff inside.

Man I miss that bird it was so much fun to play with. I’m hoping that the person who informed me that a group is looking to purchase both is true because then I will get to play with it again.

Also did anyone notice the location Florida wow I never knew Southern Florida Country Side to look like English Landscape:eek:

Wow you guys are really funny most of the crap that has been said on this thread is just that crap. Please does anyone really think that the United States would launch a full scale Air war. You guys must be smoking some real good stuff.

If we ever did decide to do an air strike it would be with Stand off Cruise Missle lanched from B-2/B-1 and B-52 along with ship launch Cruise Missle why risk pilots. As for well are Intel isn’t that good really and who say this the media please if you believe that then I have some real nice Beach Front Property in Nevada for sale.

    Give it a rest folks:D 😮 :p

    Hello,

Seems I got more than the answer I was hoping for! Unfortunately these are all the photos available of these particular scenes. In the album were three other shots showing aircraft but these were identifiable (Catalina, P-40 and DC-3) although they showed only small bits of the aircraft without markings visible.

I’d be interested to hear more about the Hickory and Mavis. I guess that there may be a story or two behind them. I’m impressed that you were able to identify the wrecks in the background by the way Scorpion89! I wouldn’t have guessed it to be possible.

Are there other photos known to be of the same scrapyard around?

    Hi Archer,

I’ve seen other photos of the scrap yards online but I don’t recall it might have even been on Flypast.

As for the Id well take a close look at the third photo the Big aircraft look like ‘s a C-47 but I blew up the nose and counted the Cockpit Windows the L2D had square windows and an extra window on the side. As for the Biplane that one I had to check the wing length and compare it to the specs on the K5Y.

As for the Ki-84 well I rec. the engine and the flat Windscreen right away.:p

    FJ-1
    P4M

    AU-1

Oh and I would need a rather long runway and sea ramp.

So here is my take on some stuff brought up in the thread,

In refererance tot he F-86 that was part of the Saber Team quite right to have it painted up as that because of its Historical background but sitting right next to it is a F-84 now is this plane a straight wing or swept wing bird. The reason I ask is if its a Straight Wing then I would redone the paint as what it had when it was part of the USAF.

Now this brings me to a pet pive of mine. I really would like to see museum to make more of an effort to research and apply the correct paint scheme to there aircraft. Yes I understand that some are painted to show someone famous or some historical aircraft but to me that cheapens the actual aircraft history.

Now as for aircraft being rebuild to flying status first I think all things to make it a safe airframe to operated go before anything correct if that means you have to use different brakes then fine. As for painting it well as a former Warbird Owner I understand that its my aircraft and I will do with it as I please, but I think the days of Day Glow Orange on a Mustang are long over. I would like to see more actual paint schemes on aircraft to show off THERE history.

Now will this work for a B-17 or a B-25 no unless it does have some sort of interesting history. But then again when I was involved with our old B-25 one of the subject was what to paint it up like and we were leaning heavely towards painting it as what it appeared during the mid 50s as a Weather Recon B-25.

Right now I’m looking top purchase either a SNJ or another trainer the SNJ I’m looking at has an interesting history if I do buy it I plan on having it repainted to show its history.

The Mavis started out as an aircraft captured by the Indonesians. It then fell into Dutch hands and finally it was held by the British who eventually scrapped it. The Hickory is a bit of a mystery. The fuselage marking does not tally with Indonesian insignia of the day. Indonesian aircraft were marked either with a red and white rectangular marking or a red and white roundel.

    Keith,

This Hickory could be one of the Indo. birds that were operated by them while under the Japanese Force’s they had the Black Trim with Red Square. I think the location of these photos are at the North End of the Java Airdrome this was the main holding are for most of the Japanses Army Aircraft. I’ve seen other photos of this holding are showing other aircraft with the same square marking on them most of these aircraft are transport type.

Archer do you have any more photo.
