Hear, hear! Seconded. And I’ll be there.:eagerness:

Thought I’d posted this already, but here goes again… good on you! I’d be tempted myself I wasn’t going to be at Headcorn. Despite having digs there for two years, I still have a soft spot for Hernia Bay. Wouldn’t it be wonderful, and appropriate, if they did a run-in over the towers at Reculver?

the start of a very busy weekend that will see the Lancasters carry out displays at Headcorn, Herne Bay, Old Warden, Sywell and Eastbourne, and single flypasts at Kenley, Littlestone, Whitstable, Woburn Abbey, Wyton, Ramsey and Peterborough.

May I just say how delighted I am to see Herne Bay get a look in given that Warner “Bill” Ottley – lost on the night of May 16/17 1943 – was from Herne Bay, and the Upkeep mine was tested within sight of the town at Reculver.

A little bit of a shame, as I’d have liked to see her, but hopefully she’s well on the way to Capel-le-Ferne by now.

Three nice photos in today’s Times too…

Not a lot of clues in the rest of the picture, unless we have an expert on European telegraph poles and fittings on-forum! About all that I can elucidate is that it’s not in winter, and that it’s somewhere where Elder grows… which I don’t think helps much at all!

It looks much more like light alloy than steel, which is what most agricultural equipment tends to made of – saving weight is rarely an issue there!

The Lashenden Air Warfare Museum will be open from 9am both days. Those of you that get to the show early can visit the museum before the show site opens at 10am. We look forward to seeing you.

Given that we’re coming from Oxford I doubt we’ll make it at 9, but the invitation is very welcome!

(many, many, years since I visited Headcorn, and a good many more since I was at the museum!)

Thanks, timuss, much appreciated! Hurry up and confirm please chaps, *gets violin out* I’m trying to get an elderly gent recovering from major surgery to see them, and Bourn may well be just too early.

Just got back from three days in a tent in a field to find this news – absolute bloody magic?

While I deal with four days worth of clag in my inbox, a house full of stupendously wet camping gear, and the first shower in days can anyone save me a few mins and confirm that she is or isn’t booked for Duxford in September, please?

    Many thanks,

    A damp and aromatic Adrian

They certainly put an LGB through a parked Hawker (Sea) Fury.

I also remember a US bigwig showing journalists film of a Hercules gunship blazing seven bells out of a Hunter (gate guard?), and wondering whether any of them realised he was being made a twerp of.

Dunno about the history but I reckon from the letters on the remains of the nose that it’s a Halberstadt, possibly a CLII?

Invasion striped P51 briefly doing aerobatics to the East of Stanton St John, Oxfordshire, late yesterday afternoon. Looking at Google Maps, I wonder if it was over Worminghall aerodrome?

Messy, but it could have been a whole lot worse!

Am I right in thinking that it’s got no anti-spin strakes fitted? Not they’d have anything to do with the accident, just curious!
