Hello again to all,
I know that I already had my say at this thread but I had to post one more suggestion………The Northrup B-49 or YB-49 or XB-49 which ever you prefer.
Tim..
Thanks to all who answered
I had a disagreement with my boss about the composition of dowty Rotol 5 bladed prop blades,I said they were wooden and he said “no way possible” then he said”how much do you want to bet?”and I said”how much do you want to lose?”needless to say,I am expecting payment any day now…….Tim
How about one of these
I think that the Hughes XF-11 would be a great plane to copy,a bit complex but great.Of course ,it would probably be wise to leave off the counter rotating props.I think that Howard Hughes wished that he had left them off.
What a beautiful airplane………………………Tim…………………….
All I knew about him,I read in books and magazines,
everything that I did read about him proved what a great pilot and man he was.I always looked forward to reading anything written by or about him,I knew that it would be first rate.He and his father are the kind of men that I can and do admire without any regrets and I can only dream of reaching the heights that he reached in his too short life time. I was very upset when I first heard of his death.I cant believe that its been 5 years already! He was a truely great man. Tim.
The last of the Mohicians!er F-4’s
Hello again to all,
This past week,I saw an F-4 fly that the announcers said was the last flying U.S. military Phantom. It was out of Holloman A.F.B.New Mexico.Pilots were Germans undergoing training at Holloman.Atleast thats what they said.wouldnt be the first time those blowhard announcers were wrong!Heres a few photos taken at Reno this past week. Tim
heres a few of other reno sights
heres more photos.
I hope I havent over done it and bored everyone.if not and if desired,I have many more of static displays, pits, racing etc.etc.if wanted, let me know what you want to see and I’ll post them when I can. Tim
More pics of Mr patterson and friend
Hello all,
I also got back monday and took some pics of steve and his plane also met Mr.Hairyplane and his Mrs.(girlfriend?)also got a few of Capt Eddies Firefly which was parked next to Southern Cross.Races ended in the rain and snow!Dago reg crossed line first but cut a pylon so Rare Bear won!John Penny said he could have passed Dago red but held back when he saw Mr.Skip Holm cut the pylon.no need to risk the engine!
heres the pics .The gentleman with steve is Mr.Hairyman(I hope you dont mind my posting your picture steve!)
GeorgeW.Bush’s missing service records found!
You fellows all need a vision exam! This photo just came out on the assoc.press wire.It was dug up by the John Kerry camp. It’s a pic of ol G.W.B.
hanging out in front of the outhouse that was next to the double wide trailer that he was hiding out and partying in!Mr.Kerry’s war experiences were childs play in comparison. There were many casualties and George was wounded many times(mainly to his pride)He was awarded the purple nose three times!
How can anyone not vote for an experienced warrior like he?G.W.B. quote
“it was hell, but someone had to do it!”semper fi! as you were!………. 😮
Yes I do want a copy
I would be most appreciative of anyone who might be generous and send me a copy.please send me a p.m. at this site and I’ll send you an address and my most sincere thanks, ………..Tim……………….
I hate to be the bearer of bad news boys!
Hello again to all,
I found out today why the areas were closed in the museum.Mr.Steve Patterson just purchased all of the aircraft located in those areas and they are all being dismantled to be shipped to Mr.Patterson’s home airfield.Sorry guys,I hear they were being sold because the museum took a poll of museum patrons and they said they wanted to see “New” airplanes and not those “Old”
and tattered ones!you should be able to come over to see them some time next year(for a fee,of course!)………Sorry,Tah for now………Tim 😮
If I’m not mistaken theres a B-29 in the museum at Hill A.F.B. in Utah. 😮
The sheds are in tustin,Ca.
I believe El Toro Marine Base in Southern California has 2. Helicoptor pilots can fly right in. 😀
The airship hangers in question are located at the Ex-U.S.M.C. helicopter base in Tustin,California. They are approx.5 miles or so west of the now also Ex-U.S.M.C. El Toro airbase.I drive by them nearly every day and believe me they are HUGE!………………………Tim………………………………..
p.s. One little added nugget of unimportant info.During the mid 1980’s,I used to work at a business located right beside the Tustin Helicopter Base.We were located directly under the take off and landing flight paths because we were in an industrial area and they wanted to avoid residential neighborhoods.
anyway, they flew so low overhead that I remember crewmembers hanging out of the doorways and looking down at me and I could makeout details of their faces!unless you have been under a flight of Sea King or Chinook helos
then you cant imagine just how loud and earthshaking an experience it is!sometimes it went on all day!WOW!My ears are still ringing! 😮
You Guys Are All Wrong! Again!
The Brewster Buffalo was the finest fighter hands down! 😮
However I must give second place to the Mosquito! what a great and beautiful airplane. And made of wood to boot!(my,how very british)Whether or not it belongs in a post about greatest fighters,To me it takes first place in the Greatest PLANE of WWII.What other airplane was able to be converted to as many different configurations as the Mossie was? What other plane was then able to excell in the mission requirements demanded of these various Marks and models, as the Mosquito did??none (or very few) that I can think of.Many of you will dispute my claim and you may be correct, but when it comes to sheer beauty and stirring up my passions and excitement level, nothing beats the Mosquito!DeHavillands(Dehavilands?) masterpiece! 🙂
The Gannet is really quite an interesting airplane(very British!)
The Fairey Gannet is surely an interesting airplane.Unfortunately for me,I have never seen one fly in person. If I understand correctly, the level of noise emanating from the Double Mamba is rather
loud and intense and is something you have to experience in person to believe! Both the Gannet and the Double Mamba are truely” BRITISH “creations in the finest sense!I make this observation based upon my past experiences repairing and/or restoring various vintage British automobiles.believe me,you have to be into pain to willingly subject yourself to this abuse.I did and yet still I love them!Hail Brittania!God save the queen!………………….Cheerio!…….Tim……………
