come on look at history the US love stealing/borrowing/loaning engines plans of us..

My Dear English friend,I believe that you didnt realize that I was Pointing out the fact that these technology transfers were most beneficial to America. However,I take offense to your claim that America stole these plans.Do a little homework and you will find that these were GIVEN(not stolen)and that armament production resulting from these blueprints was most beneficial to England and others during those most unpleasant times(1939-1945)Englands willingness to do these was thanks mainly to those gosh darn Germans misbehaving, but I believe that the Italians and the Japanese may have played a part too. Those guys always ruin it for everybody else!………Thank you………..

Why didn’t the Americans develop a match for the Merlin?

We didnt have to,Our good friends and allies(the British)set us up to make our own Merlins.I guess that they did this so that all of the airplanes that the U.S. built for England ,Ourselves and others would have engines,Which are very helpful if you want said airframes to fly.The Various U.S. engine manufacturers had many exotic engines in development during the war, however the Merlin was a known quantity and successful and even the most ignorant observer could see the writing on the wall that said that jet engines had already obsoleted piston engines and were the future of aircraft powerplants.P.S. our good friends the British also gave us the know how to build these too(thanks to those damn germans)! This fortunate event for America was an unfortunate one for England because it gave America a Headstart that Airbus and other european aerospace companies have caught up to only recently. Thank you.

No no, actually it will be 300+ Rafale and 200+ FRA-FA.

Here we go again, another disgruntled french flag waver.WOW! those future french planes will sure have a lot of neato stuff on them!I’ll bet they’ll also have reverse, interstellar overdrive, hyperspace,Romulan cloaking device,Photon Torpedos, virtual Maginot line forcefield,Wine decanter, and run on dilithium crystals! They’ll need these when they go up against Chad,Algeria,Guyana,Tahiti and the Klingons. The other airforces of the world wont stand a chance! The French A.F.’s past successes and victories will intimidate all!We are all doomed to second place or less! Give me a break! France? Ha,ha,ha!

Mounting VERY heavy firepower in the nose of a B-25

The ingenious development that comes to my mind are the in the field improvisations performed by “Pappy”Gunn in the South Pacific theater. He mounted any number of 50 caliber Browning machine guns in the noses of various B-25 bombers.8,10 ,12 guns, take your pick. any place he could hang or strap on a gun,he did!you can never have too many M2 Brownings!(not true, they’re heavy guns). These were then all wired to a switch to be fired by the pilot .This was one hell of an improvisation! He also mounted cannons of various sizes in B-25’s .Japanese recipients of these modifications were VERY unhappy about them, this made Pappy VERY happy!.50 caliber rounds make very big holes in things and lots of 50 caliber guns make lots of big holes in things.Imagine being on the receiving end of this!NO THANK YOU!Even Warships were blown apart by this withering firepower. The success of these mods eventually led to the North American Aviation factory installing machine guns in hard noses and also 75 mm cannons as well. However the cannon installations were not as well liked as were the Brownings, the recoil from firing these was rather brutal and even damaged some airframes. These were just a few of the infield mods tried out by Mr.Gunn.Everybody loved Pappy but the Japanese!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Tim.
