I agree with Moggy. They were obviously somewhere they shouldn’t have been, with no good reason for being there. Better safe than sorry, I’m afraid.

The report in the local rag seems to think that the tower will stay but the new road will be very close to it, wouldn’t suprise me if the airfield were to go however. As 92fis says, houses (and businesses) are going up at an incredible rate and with the revised A14 making good progress it would seem logical to pop a link road in to ease some congestion, airfields in Suffolk are on the way out I’m afraid.
If this is true its horrible, horrible news. Rougham Airfield and Tower are absolute gems which should be preserved forever. Another win for the NIMBYs if this comes off.
That Dak is gorgeous – are those decals “out of the box” or third party/self made?
Very nice. Looks like you had great weather for it!
Thanks for the link, actually it was the infamous window frame photo
Now hanging in the Tate Modern I believe 😉
Hoping to make my first visit to Duxford in 2005 tomorrow, continuing the missuses indoctrination (she used the scanner when I was at work today!) – depending on how early I get up!
Must be a tight squeeze on those taxiways!
It didn’t look too bad, but to be honest I thought they’d need to backtrack down the runway and turn off at the midpoint, but they managed to squeeze down the taxiway.
The “deformed” Canberras look awesome! Would love to see one in British airshow skies…
300D + 100-400 Cosina lens. Lens is a budget option, but am enjoying it immensely!
As a kid I liked Bagpuss, Mary Mungo and Midge, Camberwick Green, Trumpton, Chigley, Ivor the Engine, The Clangers, Roobarb, The Herbs, Hector’s House, Magic Roundabout, Thunderbirds.
Is now the right time to admit to having the complete series of Bagpuss and Dogtanian on DVD? 😉
Homes Section of the Sunday Times had a two page article on the rectory in Sprotborough – or is that the article that spurred your question?
I was told about the article, haven’t read it yet. Shall dig the paper out when I get home.
Might be a month or so before I get them scanned – the owners are very keen to get them put onto computer though. The albums themselves are somewhat tatty and damaged, but nonetheless beautiful and hand annotated.
My favourite thread for ages has been the scrapyard photos. Fascinating stuff – never seen anything like that on other historic aviation forums.
There’s nothing I tend to avoid deliberately – there’s usually something to interest or raise a smile in most threads.
Rover’s problem is that they simple aren’t competitive in the modern marketplace. Hideous old overpriced models which are bought only by the elderly. Poor build quality and about as easy to resell as a pair of soiled underpants. The government should leave Rover well alone, stop trying to election points-score, and let the company die with at least a little dignity.
