Hairyplane – you’re one lucky bloke to even be able to contemplate this! Personally I’d go for the Avenger ahead of the Mustang. Much rarer in this country. Not quite as sexy as the Mustang, granted, but still a lovely beast.

The Avenger is a favourite of mine. Tony Haig-Thomas’s machine is a gorgeous beast. Saw it up close and personal at Rougham in the rain a couple of years ago. Can’t believe they go for what, in aircraft terms, is small change… Wish I’d bought two of them instead of our new house!

Sorry, PilotDKH, I find your point of view rather small minded, and not a little insensitive. The point of remembrance day is that we remember the dead of ALL wars. That means recent ones like the Falklands, Bosnia and Iraq. World War II remembrance might be a “bunch of old fogeys” to you, but I’m 27 and have no direct link with the conflict, and I certainly use the day to remember the sacrifices made, and I’m no “fogey”. While I accept your right to your opinion, may I suggest you might be a little more respectful when next November comes around…

I thought that this silence was pure political gesturing. It spoke of the mass hysteria over Diana, the little piles of plastic-wrapped dying flowers at the roadside. It seems so synthetic – being seen to grieve, rather than just getting on with it.

Must say I agree Moggy – that slimebucket Blair sees the PR opportunity in everything. We, as a nation (talking about Britain here) have become obsessed with mass mourning, ever since the sex-crazed Princess died. My partner and I donated £50 to the tsunami appeal, and would prefer to reflect on the tragedy in our own time and in our own way, not just because Blair tells us to.

Is it me or do all of Jon Culshaw’s impressions on “Dead Ringers” sound exactly the same? Much prefer Alistair McGowan to him.

Compare comedy from the 70s with what we have today. Great stuff like Fawlty, Rising Damp, Some Mothers Do ‘Ave Em, Porridge and The Good Life. Compare that to drivel like My Family, My Hero and that crap PC muck with Jasper Carrott and the handicapped Asian lad.

I refuse to watch the Fat Cow of Dibley. Find it as amusing as having my testicles nailed to a plank of wood with a couple of rusty nails before being beaten by a steak tenderiser.

Fawlty Towers was just several French farces rewritten for a British audience; not taking anything away from him since that was his own admission. Nowadays I look at them and wince…

WHAT!!! Fawlty Towers is STILL the definitive sitcom. A perfect example of scriptwriting, comedic acting and timing. All twelve episodes have stood the test of time amazingly well. Its still laugh-out-loud funny – unlike 99% of modern sitcoms.

The King is dead, long live the King! I’m 27 and love all his music from the 50s right through to the modern remixes. I’ve been known to do a mean karaoke Hound Dog on occasion… 😀

Presumably for the same reason we’re not allowed to use them on petrol forecourts – they’re believed to be capable of sparking.

Our crackers were dire this year. And we had to take the bangs out because they frighten the dog. I got a comedy moustache in mine… 🙁
