Ok, here’s my reasoning why I picked the Venom as numero uno… It simply looks right. It’s like a grown-up Vampire, before it let itself go a bit and became a Sea Vixen!
Yes – many happy returns Andy. 🙂
Now that’s what you call a holiday! Looks like you had a good ‘un mate.
Some amazing stuff out there… One day….
Thanks – just started the download. Christ, its a biggie!!!
Might belong to the same air force as that “Black Lancaster” that was mentioned on here a few weeks ago… 😀
Is that fresh or salt water?
Indeed it is. Bloke in the JP could do with a visit to a good barber though… 🙂
2004’s been brilliant. Some cracking small events at Old Buckenham, Hardwick and Little Gransden. Legends was good. RIAT week was simply the best week of the year, and Duxford in September and a first trip to Old Warden topped it all off nicely…
Anyone remember Tales of the Golden Monkey from the early 80s. I was only about 5 years old, and seem to recall a red and white Grumman Goose playing a starring role…
I don’t have to explain myself! Luckily the missus sees my fascination with all things aerial as “sweet”… I’m referred to in her monthly newspaper column as “The Plane Enthusiast”…
At work too, my interest is looked upon as quaint eccentricity.
Did it for RIAT week this year, so as not to have to worry about such trivialities of wax, gel etc. You’ll feel like a freak for the first couple of days, but then you’ll get used to it… Toying with the idea of doing it again… Either that or going blond…
Parents to blame – took me to a show at Coventry in the early 80s. Concorde, Lanc, Spits etc. Hooked ever since. Been making kits since I was 5 or 6, used to visit Cosford, Birmingham Airport, Halfpenny Green most weekends as a kid. Lost interest between the ages of 11-18, but now its back with a vengeance! And I can’t see that ever changing!
It’s an excellent hobby – nothing is more exciting. In the past two years airshows have gone from being solitary expeditions to chances to meet up with some great people.
Wasn’t there a thread on this topic a few weeks ago?
Indeed there was. I started it! I think the Greek C-47 was generally considered oldest, with Mexican T-33s quite high up the list as well…
The Blackpool Vulcan’s paintwork looks not unlike that of Duxford’s Victor…
I have a First Edition of “The Dam Busters” at home. Fantastic book. Well worth a read.
