I can PM you with a phone number later if that’s OK?
Hi Chaps
I need to get some sprayable (two or single pack) cockpit green suitable for a Spitfire interior….any leads on sources (easy to find preferred) and spec numbers (i.e.if there is a NATO stock code)….Fluffy?cheers
Tony
I’m far from convinced there is a standard colour for this green – it seems to vary from manufacturer to manufacturer. In fact I’ve even got duplicate components from the same manufacturer with different shades of green on them!
Best bet is to go and look at some BS381 colour cards I think. Compare colours such as 283 Aircraft Grey Green, 280 Verdigris Green, 228 Emerald Green and even 275 Opaline Green and 262 Bold Green, and pick the one you prefer. 🙂
otw28, not sure I can help with your original plan. I’m off on holiday tomorrow so will PM you when I get back as I’m sure we could have an interesting discussion anyway.
…he wants to start another museum in south wales
Really? Tell me more.
MarkG (from South Wales)
Really great work. You might like to remind new viewers and those with short memories of the provenance of this Mossie! 🙂
Much as I love this project I can’t help wondering just how much ‘provenance’ an ALL wooden aeroplane which has had ALL its wood replaced with new can actually have?
Interesting question to which I don’t have an answer.
Shame a Mossie’s being displayed in such a garrish scheme, just my opinion. Such a nice aircraft
The scheme may be an acquired taste but I’m happy with it because it’s original, and does make a nice change I think.
The real shame is that this beautiful aeroplane will be hanging from the ceiling like the Airfix FB.VI I grotesquely built as a nipper 🙂
Still, this and other aircraft may be hanging, but at least they’ll be inside which is the most important concern.
Jagx204, I wasn’t aware that I was getting personal. If you have chosen to take it that way then it’s unfortunate because that’s certainly not what I intended. If I gave that impression then I apologise – let’s kiss and make up (not literally you understand 😀 ).
My point was that to say “we all had a chance to buy them and preserve them if we felt so inclined” is simply not the case. You did not have the resources to save them, I did not have the resources to save them and I suspect 99% of others who would wish them saved didn’t either. The fact is that if this bloke thinks these aircraft will be a good money-spinner for his operation then he is likely to be able to bring more resources to bear to acquire them than your average preservationist.
The fact that they are Hunters is neither here nor there. Who’s to say if they were rarer types that were suddenly put on eBay that they wouldn’t have suffered the same fate? I doubt someone who’s hell-bent on an eye-catching gimmick for his business is going to be too concerned what type it is – witness the Swift at Sheppards Surplus.
I’m not going to apologise for or hide my disgust at this. It IS a waste, especially as he has refused to contemplate the removal of parts from the airframes which would help any number of worthy restorations.
True, we can’t save everything. But there are Hunters around that people are struggling to restore that aren’t far short of junk, yet two airframes in good condition are to be wasted. It’s that sort of situation that saddens me. I agree with David Burke in that there are far more suitable candidates around for this sort of usage – if only there was some sort of mechanism for arranging it. 🙁
Since both of these were offered for sale via E(vil)-Bay we all had a chance to buy them and preserve them if we felt so inclined.
Really? Did you have the space and money to save them? I know I certainly haven’t. How many of us have the resources to outbid commercial organisations such as this who are often prepared to pay way over the odds in order to secure some gimmick for their operations? Very few I suspect.
I think he’s become aware of the level of interest and has modified his plans to keep at least one above water for the moment.
Ooh, that’s good of him!
What a bloody waste. This absolutely makes my blood boil it really does. 😡
I know these aircraft and good things could have been done with both of them. Why the hell do these divers need them? Surely they can do whatever fiddling about they do just as well with a sunken Ford Cortina.
😡 😡 😡

I doubt I’ve got all of them but I can probably get most of them. Bear with me and I’ll see what I can sort out this evening.
Hi
could anyone tell me what cockpit No 18 was at the Fest.
regards
colin
I’m pretty sure it was the Delfin but I can check for sure when I get home this evening.
Anyone got any info or pics of the Lanc nose section built from scratch over in the Uk??Is it still around?
This the one?
By the way here’s a little query about the original film. They had five airworthy Mosquitoes in the movie but I cannot find a shot in the film featuring more than four flying together and in fact many shots only had three. However there is one shot where five Mosquitoes can be seen taxying together. Anyone like to comment on this.?
Can’t remember the details now but I believe there were 4 airworthy aircraft used in the film (3 x TT.35s and a T.III) and a couple that were taxiable but not flyable.
There has been a guy hawking this around for at least ten years.
Wants to build replica aircraft – must be easy, they’re only made of wood…..
Bruce
That wouldn’t be this bunch would it Bruce?
They’re clearly experts on the Mosquito as they keep calling it the DH86!
