I’ll be posting the usual photo review on the Cockpit Club website tonight. I started to do it last night but was too knackered to finish it!
OK, here it is CockpitFest Page
I’m a bit sketchy on one or two of the details so if anyone has anything to add/correct then please let me know.
I for one would love to see more pics if some kind soul would oblige? How about a full report eh? Who won what?

Sorry about your trailer probs Mark but that guy standing around in a flying suit next to your exhibit didn’t seem to be helping much. Never saw him move all afternoon!
Well, he did get a bit more animated on Sunday when the wind picked up. Flailed his arms around like a Whirling Dervish then hurled himself to the ground and broke his visor. Clumsy oaf.
I told him to stop showing off in front of his friends and sent him to bed without any tea.
Mark G’s hunter will make a welcome visitor
Don’t get too excited – my trailer hiring plans have taken a turn for the worst as the previous hirers attempted to integrate it with a wall yesterday .
more of a spiritual feeling of well being!
Stuart – you sure that wasn’t wind? 😀
Any news as to whether we’ll get a BBMF flypast this year; we’ve been very lucky in the past.
There’s been no mention of it in any info I’ve seen from NAM. 🙁
I heard somwhere that the cockpit collection would be moving to the city of Norwich Aviation Museum.
A new building will be purpose built for the housing of these sections, 2 x Lightning, Bucc, Jag, Phantom, Shack and others.
Anyone add any weight to this rumour?
Regards,
John.
I hope I’m not speaking out of turn here but yes, a building will be erected on-site at the City of Norwich Aviation Museum which will house what is currently the RAF Coltishall Cockpit Collection.
Personally, I’m delighted that the Collection will be staying together and so close to Coltishall.

I didn’t realise that Mike Rondot’s ‘Guardian Reader’ was still about in it’s Gulf colours, though it looked a bit glossy.
What is to happen to this a/c when the base completely closes.
The “Guardian Reader” is just a nose section which was rescued by Mick Jennings when the airframe was scrapped at St. Athan. Yes, it is glossy, but for good reason – that finish will protect and prolong the structure better than a matt finish.

Yes, but I dont want to be seen to be blatantly advertising!
Bruce
OK, maybe I’ll do it for you then Bruce! 😀
Great British Aircraft Spares – click here, it’s fantastic!
Oh dear Rocketeer, seems your PM inbox is full 🙁
Chaps who is going and taking what?
We will have our Spitfire display as well as the Jaguar from the museum (its CWP and warnings all work now as does the AAR probe!)
Well, I’ve just about got my ‘orrible looking Hunter in a transportable state so will be bringing that (yes, I know – it’s about time!) as well as a couple of panels.
Mark G do you want a Mossie bomber stick?!
YES! YES! YES! YES! YES!
😮 Ahem, PM on it’s way.
The Chinook will always be my favourite….
Nice helicopter, shame about the FADEC.
WOW! in photo 1, those men must be giants !!
New mind them – look at the size of those bloomin’ sheep!!!
How do Newark do it for Cockpitfest ?
Do they cover it, or is it down to the attendees ?
.
I believe it’s covered by FlyPast as sponsors and NAM’s normal insurance, but I’m happy to be corrected.
Ian,
I did a bit of digging on this very subject a while back on behalf of the International Cockpit Club, and the only company I came up with that were anywhere near sensible was http://www.events-insurance.co.uk/exhibitors.html
I can’t remember what the rates were now (something around 50-60 quid rings a bell for a one-off event) but have a dig around their website or drop them an e-mail – they were very obliging and returned my e-mails pretty quickly.
I still say that it should be the responsibility of the event organisers to cover the insurance though. If they want exhibits at their events in order to make them a success they should do what’s required to attract exhibitors IMO.
Pah! Call those cockpits? This is a proper cockpit… 😉
The utterly scrumptious XE601…
