I’m getting a little angered about the way people are now ganging up on Michael Gove for saying what needed to be said about ‘entertainment’ portrayals of WW1.

His statement was not well phrased, but stuff like “Oh what a lovely war” is just a travesty.

No more than Gove deserves. An utter berk of the first order.

    A few recent cinema viewings.

    Frozen (2013)
Disney’s recent animated version of the Snow Queen. Another beautifully animated and well crafted Disney movie.

    Gravity (2013)
My first foray into 3D at the cinema. A stunning piece of film making and quite enthralling.

    A few on Sky

A Good Day to Die Hard (2013)
Hopefully the last film in the Die Hard series.Unusually for me, I gave up after 45 minutes. Garbage.

    The Incredible Burt Wonderstone (2013)
Steve Carell and Steve Buscemi play magicians whose livelihood is threatened by a new style of street magician played by Jim Carrey. Quite a pleasant movie, not riotously funny but not too bad.

    Hi All,
Prometheus then Star Trek Into Darkness, both very good but Prometheus left more unanswered questions but judging by the last scene there will be a sequel to it ?

    Geoff.

The sequels have been made already, as Prometheus is a prequel to the Alien series of films.

I can’t see mainstream cinemas kicking out Disneys big eyed animated type films to make time for this.

As it was TV series broadcast months ago in Germany then I would thought a theatre release in the UK would be very unlikely, especially as the BBC have bought the right to broadcast it in the UK.

What is depressing about this thread is that the avowed atheists are just as intolerant of other’s beliefs and faiths as any religious zealot.

I’m not sure I understand the problem. Three were arrested, one to be deported the the other two on immigration bail. Isn’t this a case of the immigration authorities working correctly? Or is it just another excuse for an anti-immigration rant? Another in a tiresome series of many similar rants.

I mean something that can not be really can not be explained, as oppose to something that is not yet understood

Comes to the same thing doesn’t it? If it is not yet understood then it cannot be explained by science. Surely we aren’t arrogant enough to assume we know everything?

I’m not going to worry about which part goes twang. My Nikon D7000 is rated for 150000 shutter actuations. I would need to have it for another 10 years before I reach that sort of number. My D80 has around 35000 actuations and is still going strong.
