If you want to go tomorrow then yes, rail travel can be expensive but booked in advance and travelling off-peak I’ll bet you can get a fare for less than half that. There is always the option of driving into London. Good luck with that!

I would imagine those that built the Liverpool and Manchester Railway had the same discussions.

Eh???
Eh???
And energy prices rose last year as well, and the year before that, even when the wholesale price went down. Up they went. It’s a rip-off and something has to be done. The “green” tax argument is a red herring (excuse the colour metaphor). Yes they make the price go up but by the same amount for everyone. Smaller energy companies are arguing that the prices don’t have to rise this year. Who would you believe?

I await the appearance of Derekf to complete the unholy alliance.
Fame at last.
You really are a class act John Green whose “righteous indignation” is so wildly misplaced as to be laughable. It wasn’t “lefties” that that brought this case and the fact that the case has been brought to court at all would suggest that many within the military were not happy with the actions of some. We’ll see what the court decision eventually is but whatever the outcome, I dare you’ll spin it your own way anyway.

Gee Derek – that will work extremely well when some oap’s die from hypothermia : (
The ‘green’ taxes are a huge con…as some of us have said before…our poxy little country contributes very little to greenhouse gases and general pollution !!
Another one that only reads what they want to. The evidence given yesterday suggest that there is no need to raise prices this year. Why would anyone try and shift blame from the energy companies when they are the cause of this year’s rises?

Meanwhile, back on planet Earth……
Interesting that the smaller energy companies couldn’t understand why the larger ones have put their prices up and this morning on R4, one them was accusing the “Big 6” of running a cartel. He suggested it was pointless having an enquiry into the energy market as it was very obvious what was going on.
Interesting that they tried to blame the prices rises on government “green” taxes and suggested that they should be removed to general taxation. That rather defeats the purpose of the tax in the first which is to try and get people to reduce their power usage.
