And I thought NATO was to protect Europe from the Warsaw Pact. If it made allies from former enemies then good.
The European Union is designed to promote closer ties within Europe rather just allies.

NATO has been around a lot longer than the EU has it? I guess to some 3 years is a lot longer.

So you make the rules on Nobel prizes do you?

The UN peacekeeping forces, the IAEA, and many other organizations have won it before.

So an organization that has kept a previously war-torn continent at peace for 60 years is not worthy of recognition?

As I said before, there is rather more to the EU than straight bananas.

Dogs are better as they can’t get into our garden to crap in it or bother our guinea pigs. Cats however do get in to our garden and treat it as their lavatory. Some deterrence is required. Humane or otherwise.

    Cats. Pets for lazy owners.

Governments of all colours know the consequences of leaving the EU so don’t want it to happen.
Sadly the real issues involving Europe will be ignored and it will become a bun fight about straight bananas, “being ruled from Brussels”, and “foreigners” anyway.

You should only be allowed to vote on EU memebership if you can prove you have read and understood all of the Treaties of the European Union. Your vote will then be based on an intelligent choice and not based on the Daily Mail or Express.

Not being part of the largest trading bloc on our doorstep would be foolish in the extreme. On a day to day basis those of us in industry see huge advantages in homogenized regulatory bodies rather than each country having their own.

War criminals from WW2 are still actively pursued. Is there any reason why anyone who has contravened the law should be allowed to get away with it? Regardless of how long ago it was. As long as there are witnesses, victims and evidence, the rule of law should be allowed to run its course.

    Scum (1979)
A hardhitting and brutal story of borstal inmates. This must have been pretty shocking in 1979 as it is still shocking even now. Great performances from future star. Not a barrel of laughs but compelling viewing.

    Final Destination 5 (2011)
Survivors of a bridge collapse meet death in various ways. Pretty good actually but very gruesome.

    Goodfellas (1990)
The true story of Henry Hill and his rise through the gangster ranks. A true classic. Joe Pesci, Robert be Niro and Ray Liotta at their very best.
