I’m not sure how true this is but it kinda makes sense… The North East Military Vehicle Museum have many items of clothing, some of which are so rare they have cleaned to the best point they can without damaging them and then they vaccum pack them taking out all the air, then put them in the freezer for storage. It apparently sorts out all the unseen bugs that can destroy the fabric!

No one will be wanting to offend anyone but why try and change history? The fact remains, the dog was called Nigger and thats how it should remain if history is to remain accurate. Should we erase all of our grim history of wars, rape and pillage just because it may offend? I think people should accept it that, this is how things WERE. There will always be someone who is offended, I guess thats just life….. I could say I’m offended that people are trying to change history, so does this mean they will keep the name Nigger 😀

Not all doom and gloom then if they manage to pull this one off. Hats off to them if they do!! I wonder if they could save both Nimrods. Paint ’40’ up in the early scheme and leave ’44’ in the late scheme to show 40 years of opperations…

As ‘Digger’ and ‘Nig*er’ through the lips appear the same, maybe they will stick with ‘Nig*er’ for the British release and dub it to sound like ‘Digger’ for the American release. All the same, I’d like to stick to accuracy. Imagine a white guy, say ‘George Clooney’ playing the part of a famous black guy, say ‘Martin Luther King Jr’. It just wouldn’t do, would it….

    I’d go with CeBro!

The Botha was never a glamour queen but she was part of our heritage and something that should not be forgotten.

Look at what can be achieved from CeBro’s work on the Halifax cockpit. Yes it takes time but when you look back it will all be worth it.

Fill a void in our aviation heritage…

    Topcliffe

Topcliffe…. Now there is a good thought!! I don’t think there has been an airshow there since the 1970’s??

I was involved with the first couple of Elvington events but politics etc have caused problems but yes it is an ideal location.many years ago I on an annual basis we used to spend 10 days every year moving lock stock and barrel to a temporary camp site on a wind swept aerodrome and converting it for a two day airshow. The show was Great War Birds I along with Peter Smith used to run the ground support side of things.Laying out the airfield, fencing, car parks, toilets, bins, ground crews etc. Very tired at the end of it but went back for more until we finished off at Wroughton. The ground support is the most important part of the show and mainly unseen and unknown but an event dont happen without it.

A location Ideal would be Woodford for the North of England or possibly try to get one of the dormant RAF stations. Church Fenton for one would be really ideal as its down to not much more than a university unit and ATC. Topcliffe would be another possible if the Army would give permission for access not going via their bit. Dishforth right next to the A! /A19 interchange three runways ATC the lot only a few helicopters in the hangars now that if the army ever moved out could be the Duxford of the North !!!!!.Plus we have a lot of cockpits etc,and interesting aircraft north of Birmingham so we could have a damn interesting and interactive static park !!!

    I digress sorry

but if you ever want any experienced guys for the ground crew ,airfield set up let us know.We also used to organise the mini shows at Manchester Barton including the one we sadly lost the mossie at.Now they got done on a mini budget.

    Pray to the Gods…

Well… The Sunday, yes. Saturday no, as the winds were gale force and prevented the Mk1 Spitfire from even turning up.

Spit, Hurricane, Yak52 and JP3A are all on the cards this year as well as possibly the local 202 Sqn SeaKing like last year. It will be interesting to see what else turns up! 😉
