Help!
Thought I’d bump this back up the que. Has anybody got anything to add as It would be most welcomed!?
There was talk of her going to India to live but I haven’t heard any more on that for a good while….
I think the fact that our air space is still being probed has been swept under the carpet…
Remember this?
Phil.
As much as I’m saddened it’s a step backward to seeing an Airworthy Mossie back in England, it’s good to see the backing you guys in Canada get from your Councilors…. If only we could get back to how our funding was a few years back!
Votes Please?
Probably very true but anything is worth a shot, even this petition…:)
I don’t know if it’s different for people adding their signature on the petition externally but internally it only asks for a donation.. I decided not to give money on this occasion!
Has there been any thought to having a full airshow again or would it simply be too costly?
900
Has XX900 had a paint job as she’s looking stunning on that photo?
Tangmere…. Are you free to run for government as we need people like you! Full of sense!!!
No problem Snakeman!
What updates are you doing to the site at present as I haven’t been on for ages….?
XV420
Yup, that was XV420 and unfortunately also scrapped….
Tonkas
Is there many there and are they getting processed fast?
I second that as 736 has the tell tale ‘kink’ in the nose!

XS713 was the only updated aircraft to carry the Red/white/grey scheme with the new nose, and you can clearly see the fairing in this shot:

Hmm, how about XS736 in Lima 1’s post??
Save Our Phantom’s
No problem JT.. As I said, I think she is due a revisit and the more care and attention she gets, the better chance of survival for the future!! Hopefully the treaty in which the Phantom falls foul will ease in the future and more can be saved.
Phil, whilst on the subject – any chance of getting our guys up there? It would be quite a publicity coup.
So if anyone else is listening and wants to help save our Phantoms, sometimes getting a small group of people together and offer free help to gate guards on MOD stations, it is possible (sadly not in Pagen’s case)
Below is a small list of what I class as the most vulnerable Phantom’s currently in the UK needing YOUR help
XT597 Boscombe Down, Wiltshire (Museum – Currently Closed?)
XT852 West Freugh Dump, Dumfries and Galloway
XT905 North Luffenham, Rutland
XT907 EOD Chattenden, Kent
XT914 Preserved Brampton
XV401 Boscombe Down, Wiltshire (Museum – Currently Closed?)
XV499 Leeming, North Yorkshire (Possibly to Elvington?)
ZE360 Manston Fire School (One of only 2 complete F4J(UK)’s left)
Regards,
Phil.
XV415
I agree with Pagen!
I know that XV500 was scrapped due to a survey which was carried out on her, stating she was no longer structually sound and therefore unsafe.
This also happened to XV415 at RAF Boulmer and what do you know, the same ‘no longer structually sound’ statement again. With the scrapping of 415 in sight a few people headed by myself travelled to Boulmer to carry out our own survey. To cut a long story short and having opened up many panels on 415. She was fine, in fact she was gleaming internally with only slight corrosion on some panels. Shortly later and after the base commander being happy with our findings, let us ‘cosmetically’ restore 415 with specialist outdoor paint kindly donated by Jotuns.
Must have pulled it off as she is still there today although I think a visit is due this year to make sure all is well and rectify anything that is not.
Just to think, Boulmer were quoted more than £20k to restore her when a decent ‘band of brothers’ did it for free!
