Maybe the LA could raise funds for repair on the hangar under the previso that 724 can be put under cover once the damage is repaired…..

    Worth a shot??

Ahh yes F4MFIXER’s got it right… It was 399 and not 393 as previously stated. I need to start wearing my glasses when reading my notes 😉

    55 OTU

What were the reasons behind a person thinking it was 55 OTU? 55 OTU was based at RAF Usworth, Tyne & Wear by the way, just for your records..

I have posted the same question on other forums, and two different suggestions were put forward:
    1) 55 OTU
    2) Russia

    Does that ring any bells?

    No.2

The one further away on the photo I used for quoting. I think 393 is now in Holland but would need to check..

    XV393 & XV404

The first aircraft is XV393 which still survives as a cockpit today and the tiger stiped Phantom is actually XV404 (former 19Sqn ‘I’)

Actually its not all, there’s nowt on the TV and its too early to retire so here are some more.

All you Phantom guys get the tissues ready, here are a set from Hanningfield on 13th April 1993.

    Unidentified

    Go-Geordie

I had already guessed that, being a Geordie and all…. but just had to ask :D:D:D

Taken in mid 90s and it took off from the quayside on the Gateshead side where HMS Calliope is based.:)

    WK800

No guesses for where that location is then…… 😉

If this is the case I wish the people involved well as it would be good to see running again!

There are plans for it to come to a more active location hopefully soon

    Wings & Wheels

    Thanks for that Blue_2!!

After having a look on the YAM website I see no sign of a ‘Wings & Wheels’ event this year??

    Thunder Day?

    Blue_2,

What was the open day where the Seafire 17 and Skyraider turned up at, I think last year? Was is a Thunder Day?

The reason I ask is simply out of curiosity as I seriously miss the airshows at Elvington although seeing a few flying examples would be a good compromise 🙂

Also, any comeback on the PM I sent you a while back regarding the Lightning Association?

    Cheers in advance!

    Phil.

The TSR2 radar trials Meteor WD790 was based at Llanbedr at one time although not in the drone colours but actually the RAE Rasberry-Ripple colours…

Not really an update as she has already gone through engine runs but thought this would be interesting all the same….
