Historic Leconfield
Thats the Meteor I was thinking about so yes, I guess by the time most people read this it would have arrived…
As far as I’m aware, Leconfield is getting an ex-ATC Meteor T7 gate guard!
Metal replacement??
If this is the case can the plastic internal item be replaced by an improved metal one and does one exist???
Bad Traffic @ Leuchars!!!!
I love Leuchars!!!
The show itself was great but the traffic organisation was absolutely terrible.
I was coming from Crail which is 15 miles SOUTH of RAF Leuchars and on leaving the show I was directed NORTH to TAYPORT. Once there I obviously needed to go SOUTH so headed back down towards GUARDBRIDGE. Again, I was redirected NORTH even after explaining this to the Police woman. I was sneaky enough to head cross country to CUPAR but found the main road to Crail was closed. All in all a 15mile journey turned into a 60 mile journey!
I really don’t understand why the RAF can’t use the south side crash gate like they used to in the old days. Traffic was much more organsied back in the 90’s!!!!
Did anyone else on here have this problem???
Thats the thing Brian, the actual mechanism of the lens seems fine as I held a screwdriver into the adjoining mechanism while moving the focal part of the lens… If it has done some damage to the cogs, is it costly to fix?
Sad News
That is very sad news indeed!
I had helped John on more than one occasion and I can honestly say he was an inspiration to us all and a really decent gentleman!
He will be missed – RIP
P.S. – The Meteor is looking a lot better in her new camouflage!!!!
Canny Harvard!
Sorry, none of the Harvard. I was near the KC-135 when you were displaying and my Sigma 300 decided to act up (which I may post on here for help with).
Regarding the Harvard…. Any chance of you popping into Eshott with her for the 2011 Great North Fly-In?
P.S. – It was great to hear that band-saw effect of the props of your Harvard when you were displaying!!!!
Phantoms
Sorry ‘Wiseman’,
I wasn’t around to view the arrivals and departures. I only managed to get a picture of the JP as I arranged with the pilot to overfly nearby Crail Airfield.
It’s about time the Germans put some aircraft back on the circuit especially the Phantom given that they aint got long left!!
Thanks for the comments guys!
Thanks for the great photos… love the the Hunters, the Hurri, the Vulcan… Any Phantom phlying shots?
One last one of my mates JP unless there is any requests…

🙂

and my favourite to last….

Some more…

Because of these problems, most of the show is ‘park and ride’ this year bar disabled and online ticket sales!
Hopefully this will make a good change for the enthusiast….
Sqd Ldr Pablo Mason DFC
I can honestly say that Pablo’s War is a great read and a great insight into life in the RAF including all the ‘boys club’ problems Pablo Mason encountered!
Always welcome!
I have a few recent photos of the one at Leuchars on my laptop if anyone wants to see them?
