i’d imagine “flying officer ” was a rank obtainable for ground staff too !!

and the RAF would have had many highly important and vital tasks in ground based tasks too such as target idetification etc !!

the letter says he was ” mentioned in despatches !” that covers many important things or actions it was just short of receiving a medal !! so quite honourable realy !!

I love Japanese cars, regardless of manufacturer and the same with their bikes. The rest of the world ignored the threat and many makes perished because of this.

i presently think the same will be said about china in the future !!

i’m presently considdering buying a chinese motorcycle coppy for cheap work transpot

i already have an honda that i am customising but for 700 quid you can buy a brand new machine now the cosmettic finnish is usualy poor quality but there are lots that say ,for the price they cannot be beaten and seeing as most 125s get used for one year then you usualy move on to a bigger bike you usualy loose about 3-4 hundred quid depreciation you would buy a new japanese machine for about 3-4 thousand and loose a lot more in depreciation

warning !! the cars are on thier way the new M.G. is a chinese car and if we have to be realistic it can only improve on rovers dreadful quality when they had the company !!

Tornado64. I have to agree re the Toyotas, have you noticed that wherever there is trouble in the far East the gun toting men are riding in the back of a Toyota pick up truck?.They seem indestructable.
I have also seen them with 50 cal guns mounted on them.

local asian taxi drivers have tested every car there is to destruction in these parts the conclusion seems to be most drive toyotas the same is probably observeable in other areas

thier living depends on a car that starts every time even after niel armstrong mileage is reliable to the point of not seeing a garage for 12 yrs apart from very cheap basics and that is cheap to run and still keeps its over all condition intact

if i phone a cab it is one of the asian companies i know it will be there on time and will be a pleasant ride too !!

my friend has a ten year old celica and compared to his previous vehicles it is never toutched you just know it will do what you want when you want

i recovered a friends 3.0 supra turbo once after he left it in a multi storey car park for 18 months the aa came out to it but only because the battery was kaput it started first krank with a battery pack and was off like the clappers and was an utter hoot to drive !!

toyotas fulfil all that and still hold resale values

No, I recon the Japs build the best family mans cars these days. But thats only my opinion.

i worked in dealerships and recovery driving covering most brands and including breakdown and accident recovery

working for toyota was a real eye opener as the company also dealt in peugot , peugeots averaged about 3 or 4 a day dragged in on a recovery truck ( we were unlucky if we got 2 toyotas in six months )

not only that but the main dealers have a far better customer care attitude

drive a merc then drive a lexus the lexus 5.0 is engineered that perfect the only way of noticing it was running was to look at the tacho or open the window and listen for the faint exhaust note ( it was much much better engineered than the bentley brooklands we had on fleet !! )
