No, I recon the Japs build the best family mans cars these days. But thats only my opinion.
    Jim.
    Lincoln. 7.

i worked in dealerships and recovery driving covering most brands and including breakdown and accident recovery

working for toyota was a real eye opener as the company also dealt in peugot , peugeots averaged about 3 or 4 a day dragged in on a recovery truck ( we were unlucky if we got 2 toyotas in six months )

not only that but the main dealers have a far better customer care attitude

drive a merc then drive a lexus the lexus 5.0 is engineered that perfect the only way of noticing it was running was to look at the tacho or open the window and listen for the faint exhaust note ( it was much much better engineered than the bentley brooklands we had on fleet !! )

if you want to go into the bush buy a land rover , if you want to come out again buy a land cruiser !!

mercs are abysmaly engineered i saw a collision between a mid range merc and a ford mondeo , the mondeo needed a new rear bumper and a little straightening the merc needed a complete new front end ( in an under 30mph shunt ) i know wich my butt would rather be in even though i hate fords !!

they certainly are riding on the old image because the new stuff is cr*p

vw also ride on old reputation

anybody that knows vehicles knows toyota , honda , and lexus are the new vw , bmw , mercedes

my friend has a perfect lotus elan 1970 model tucked away , if it saw even moderate use it would have been screwed long since as would all the others mentioned !!

even an alfa sud or polski fiat would have kept well if not used much and stored well

that is what sorts the good cars from the bad !!

I bet they wouldn’t have jumped on his bonnet if he’d had been a fellow ‘Cautious Man’.

Personally speaking, my confidence in the filf plummets daily. Today we have it in the news that a conference call involving a PCeU [Police Central e-crime Unit] representative and a memeber of the FBI was broadcast by hackers on the internet.
Now if I was plod, I’d be slightly concerned that the old security net was so moth eaten that a load of teenagers were listening in, but I’d be a bloody sight more worried that one of the unit’s finest thought The Bull Ring was in Sheffield..!

    A.

lets be brutaly honnest if it was someone that was capable of giving a fair fight your average copper nowadays would cra* his pants and look for the big bumper book of health and safety excuses for inactivity !!

If it was Derbyshire all he needed to do was head for a hill, they used to have a Police car that could only get up one in reverse 😀

to be fair the locals also have six toes ( on each hand ) !!

if you pay peanuts you get monkeys !!

there are more and more videos appearing on you tube of pi** poor coppers with scant knowledge of the laws they are ment to be enforcing

but at the same time go overboard on easy targets

they fall over themselves to give a ticket to a pensioner for not wearing a seat belt !! what’s the worst that can happen ?? kill himself ?? big deal he probably only has ten years left anyway !!

yet they weren’t over keen on interveening to stop rioting

my personal feelings are sack the whole lot from the bottom to the top and have a fresh start with people that actualy wish to deal with real crime

in a past job i was privelaged enough to drive porsches , ferraris , bentleys etc up to 38 ton tractor units and nothing could be more dire than seing them driven normaly by race drivers

98 % of thier purchasers have probably never raced them or even be bothered by it and 98% will probably only ever see roads

but seeing a koeningseg break loose at speed plough most of the green stuff ready for planting whilst ripping parts off along the way …now that is entertaining !!
