The Earth orbits the Sun in one year and we know how far the Earth is from the Sun and therefore we know how fast the Earth is orbiting. Since the gravitational attraction between the Sun and the Earth is known (enough to keep the Earth in orbit) and that attraction depends on the mass of the Earth and of the Sun it is possible to work out how heavy the Earth and the Sun are.

That’s how we know how much fuel the Sun has left.

Nobody, least of all me, is claiming that science is never wrong…

it can only ever be a presumed estimate granted it may be accurate but the other fair presumption looking fairly at both sides is it can also be wholey wrong !!

science is obviously never wrong , thalidomide , nothing is able to live above certain tempratures or conditions , phorensic examinations for explosives that playing cards gave the same results

science gets many things wrong !!! it can be very reliable but at later dates with more knowledge can also be found to be very unreliable also !!

far from it , but religion has nothing to do with it either , as also science is constantly evolving and often wrong

don’t forget it is only very recently it was discovered that there was a 10th bigger planet discovered in our outer solar system that they had no clue that it was there ( even though it is vast !! )

although it has to be said with the frequency of world disasters i’m edging on the end being sooner rather than later !!

nice shots !! quite agree with the layout idea it is where a lot of togs are totaly missing the point of shooting aircraft

just because you have a 300/400 mm lens doesn’t meen you have to fill the frame every time sometimes backing off has the less is more effect

currently i’m playing with the idea of upgrading to a nikon d7000 or a 400 lens

the lens isn’t to draw them in closer but to get artier shots from further away giving more atmosphere to shots
