    especially when stealth is outta there and comes… cheaper. If you want to go down low you still can do that with an F35, a B2 or n F22. It’s not a doctrinal choice to go nape of the earth, it’s tactical. The lack of capabilities to fly safely at altitude out of the bullet zone, on the other hand is a direct consequence of a failed… industrial doctrine.

    no. The jags were hit en-route overflying an Iraki position that they hadn’t clearly identified (the text is slightly erroneous) .

    that’s an interesting lead. But we would need more info on each case. So far I haven’t noticed any female name in those released.

    Well, it was not a joke. Radar have such power today than there is a need to handle them correctly. You can read trace of this in the SH manual when it deals with the nose orientation in non-restricted airspace while the radar is on.

    Taken two weeks after MH370 disappeared on 8 March 2014, the photos were analysed by the Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB). Its researchers used drift modelling of the debris to suggest a new potential location for the crash site — a 5,000 sq km (1930 sq miles) area just north of the former search zone.
    Two Australian government agencies, Geoscience Australia and the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO), analysed the images, which were taken by a French military satellite but not released to the public.
    The report said the detected objects appeared to form clusters, rather than being randomly scattered across the area.
    The findings seemed to bolster the ATSB’s conclusion last November that the plane most likely crashed north of waters it spent more than two-and-a-half years searching. The CSIRO report provided precise coordinates —35.6°S, 92.8°E.

    The fact that photos taken just north of the search zone were not reviewed at the time is rather weird. What utility has a Fr military sat if data recovered after such a tragic event are left unchecked for 3 years?

    We had the debris littering the beaches illegally burnt on the place and pushed back at sea in French island La Reunion under the request of local authorities, the erupting volcano there triggering an evacuation of journalists away from the search zone without any real eruption and now this…

    US Refuses Instructors to Train Turkey’s F-16 Pilots

    During the thwarted coup, 25 coup pilots flew with F-16 jets and 11 of them bombed strategic sites. It was subsequently revealed that a significant number of followers of the U.S.-based Islamic preacher Fehullah Gulen were in the Air Forces Command which led to the dismissal of 1,752 personnel.
    Between 300 and 350 of those dismissed were warplane pilots and as a result the ratio of aircraft to pilots has nearly halved to less than one pilot per aircraft from the earlier 1.5.

    have they worked around external causes. I mean, hypoxia in the AF, extreme fatigue and cognitive latence in the Navy… It’s not like X-band or HPMW have never been linked to this. [paranoia=OFF]

    The UK has received 11 F-35B so far [end of August], and by the end of the year they will be 14. 3 more aircraft will be delivered next year (BK-15, 16, 17), while BK-18 will follow in 2019, alone, as the MOD ordered a single aircraft within LRIP 11.
    3 will follow within LRIP 13, for delivery in 2020. 6 more in 2021, 8 in 2022 and 7 in 2023. By the end of 2023 the UK will have 42 F-35B, of which 24 will be in frontline units as 809 NAS stands-up.
    6 more aircraft will follow in 2024, so that by January 2025 the UK will have taken delivery of 48 F-35B.
    The number of aircraft effectively embarked will depend on the Routine Operating Model that will be written down.

    2019: 18
    2020: 21
    2021: 27
    2022: 35

    India to announce road map for single-engine fighter program

    Both Lockheed Martin and Saab will be given three months to respond to the RFI, which will then be evaluated by an IAF expert committee and the final selection will be made early next year, the IAF official added.
    Likewise, an expression of interest, or EOI, will be issued to domestic companies in the next three to four months, who will, in turn, tie-up with overseas original equipment manufacturers, or OEMs, to build around 120 single engine fighters, initially costing around $18 billion under the strategic partnership model, an MoD official noted.
