There’s an interesting “depression” of sorts on the side of the front fuselage, wasn’t there before (or perhaps more likely it’s not actually a depression – the nose, canopy and chines section perhaps sport a new layer of RAM which gives it that appearance).
IMOHO, it’s only the lack of RAM at this specific place, removed as it would have been rendered useless by either the cycled operation of positioning the ladder and climbing aboard or the sprayed fueled during refueling o[operations.
The F-35 with its stealthy design was a shoo-in at the time, but technology is advancing and that is no longer the case.

You’ll never achieve something valuable with under-nourished, beaten or plagued by typhus worker* working in dusty, humid salt mines! BMW or Jumo turbojet had 8 hours max life time. DB605 20hours (wich was deemed largely enough given the under 10 hr lifetime of the airframe (accident and enemy fire)). The list is long.
Like I have said earlier, in the present example with the Me262 Vs the 51, the 51 was the quality one force. The Me262 was simply a more advanced design with promising intends. It was not sustainable neither durable. Think (again) of a 1970 USAF fielded with (Y)F-12 instead of F4 in Vietnam 😉

P51 was all about quality. Me262 was a flying death trap. A marvelous peace of engineering but with zero quality*. Think about a today Ferrari build by a cooperation b/w 1970 Renault and Fiat!

Northrop tests first E-2D with in-flight refueling
The flight comes three years after US Navy awarded Northrop a $226 million contract to engineer, manufacture and develop the aerial refueling system the carrier-based airborne early warning and control fleet.
“This takes the E-2D to another level, which will bring more combat persistence to the US and our allies,” says Jane Bishop, Northrop’s vice-president for C-2/E-2 programmes, in a statement.

First F-35s Built Outside of US Go Operational in Italy
Italy has taken delivery of two F-35 jets at its Amendola Air Base — the first joint strike fighters built outside the US to become operational.
The jets were flown to Amendola in southern Italy on Dec. 12 from Italy’s F-35 final assembly and maintenance line in Cameri in northern Italy, a defense source told Defense News.
The deliveries happened on the same day that Israel received its first F-35s, which were assembled in the US*.
“The Italian jets also touched down at Amendola shortly before the Israeli jets arrived in Israel,” the source said.
Italy has to date rolled out six F-35s at Cameri, with the first four flying to Luke Air Force Base in Arizona to take part in pilot training.
The type (A or B) is not clearly specified by the news report.

They are most probably targeting and datlinking coordinates for the shooter (J16 + Pl-XX) that would stay outside the inner ring of AWAC defense. At this level, you certainly don’t want to reveal your position by launching yourself a big smoky missile.

German fighter production level during late WWII were in fact astronomic. Don’t rely solely on the superior total aircraft production number in the US and USSR. The fact that the quality went lower and lower on the Nazi German side (infrastructures, lack of natural ressources, material quality, corruption and conscription of engineer and specialized manpower into the Wehrmacht) should answer your own question: There are no quantity that can prevail without a certain level of quality. Today fast pace of technologies turning even quickly obsolescence into the main attrition factor of say-so large fleet (see 4th Gen Vs 5Th Gen)… 😉
Energy killing (laser, HPMW) would even accelerate this process with now the number of kills being somewhat irrelevant to the number of shooter.
A new proposal by Texas based Sierra Nevada Corp* teamed with TAI
SNC/TAI’s proposal is for a purely a fly-by-wire trainer, seeming to leave little design margin for secondary light-attack or aggressor roles. Instead, the aircraft digitally replicates radar intercepts, precision-guided munition drops and the use of targeting pods. The aircraft is no larger than the GE J85-5-powered T-38 and consumes 30% less fuel, allowing weight reductions across the board to boost high subsonic performance at lower thrust levels. “We’re focusing on open architecture and lowest total ownership cost,” one company executive explains. The Freedom Trainer also is designed to fully comply with the Air Force’s Open Mission System standards to prevent “vendor-lock,” even though that requirement was dropped. “We did not want to drive costly design/redesign into systems that may otherwise meet the objective requirement,” an Air Force Life Cycle Management Center official says. SNC believes buying into any proprietary systems will drive up costs later.
The company says the Freedom Trainer will likely cost less to buy and sustain than its higher-powered competitors and consume 40-50% less fuel, while still meeting all threshold and objective performance requirements, including 6.5-7.5g sustained and high angle-of-attack maneuverability.

I have also to agree that in my mind thet Elta 2052 would have equipped all Teja past the early 2032 integration. I seem to remember that this was rumored as agreed by the manufacturer on the condition that all Teja would be fitted with an Elta radar.
Now this…
Perhaps the recent news on the Naval Teja integration being postponed makes this supposed deal null and free a slot for the new RFP?
