Sonar detects wreckage from AirAsia Flight QZ8501 on sea floor
Indonesian searchers say sonar equipment has detected wreckage from AirAsia Flight QZ8501 at the bottom of the sea, a day after the first signs of debris were spotted.
It’s still unclear whether the aircraft is in one piece of broken up, said Hernato, a search and rescue official who goes by one name.

Still does that justify to name calling and at times to a nation plus its population?
Do people know under which financial stress a country was before 2000?
How about the other technical challenging projects e.g. PAK-FA or F-22 or Typhoon or F-35?Every country has different aim based on it capabilities and resources, why it is so difficult to understand? I don’t see any issues if a country talk and think loud. And we not not only thinking but also taking baby steps. Especially 2014 showed the results of hard work and sweat of last 3 decades with across service progress. I expect accelerated progress in 2015 and following few years.
Frankly, given the extraordinary range of project running in India, I don’t see how some can dare make such critics. India have taken the bull by the horns and yes… there are technological risks, corruption, HR difficulties and blablabla.
But how do you see the reigning nations of the 21st century to be ? Those with the best profitable real estate market market or those praising their advance in technologies ?

A search aircraft has spotted debris 105 miles (169km) off Pangkalanbun, and they now sending a chopper for a clearer look, according to reports.
“These look like items that are not usually seen on sea surface,” MetroTV cited Mr Dwi Putranto as saying.
The aircraft was flying 500 feet (152.4m) above sea level. A chopper would allow the team to get a better look.
Online discussion among pilots has centered on unconfirmed secondary radar data from Malaysia that suggested the aircraft was climbing at a speed of 353 knots, about 100 knots too slow, and that it might have stalled. [???!!??? – Edit from Myself]
The plane, whose engines were made by CFM International, co-owned by General Electric and Safran of France, lacked real-time engine diagnostics or monitoring, a GE spokesman said. Such systems are mainly used on long-haul flights and can provide clues to airlines and investigators when things go wrong.

It’s not only that it is not metal. The structure around the engines are not in metal at all. And the amount of non-metal like material extend over all the center structure (tail part). So it’s either because of some structural needs, either for an other purpose.
By the way, we came alrdy at that conclusion more than one year ago by analyzing some video images of the manufacturing plant. Especially the engines frame structure 😉
Flight QZ8501 incident – Point of interests:
– The aircraft was exiting a surveyed airspace and close to enter another one
– The disappearance occurred less than one hour after TakeOff
– bad weather at alt resulted in the pilots to request climbing higher from 32 to 38kft due to weather (warm air)
– The plane had been flying the same route often before
– The request to climb was an unusual event.
– The pilots radio communicated just before the climb and then went silence
– The plane is owned 49% (sharing) by Malaysian capital group
– A French national was in the cockpit as the copilot (ex-Total employee)
– Plane destination was Singapore (from Indonesia’s Surabaya)
– The plane had a deep maintenance approximately one month ago
– Company records are excellent

As I have written before, a strong candidate for the cascade of events is a non OEM components swapped during maintenance that contains a non adapted battery.

Just imagine the C130/C17 carrying their cargo under outside pylons. Obviously (unless they would fly really slow), the range will be imparted badly.
I think that this is the same level of comparison in the other thread. But you made a point, once externally loaded more than a pair of Asraam, the range will be reduced as much as on other platforms.

I think you are right.
The idea that went in mind was that since the deck coating is not in service (the planed introduction of the C is much latter, so they might have no reason to coat their deck too early), they might use fuel or thick oil to absorb the extra heat: the liquid is sprayed on teh deck surface bellow the hottest point underneath the engine nozzle, it then get heated by the exhaust, absorbs the calories and then just burn away preventing any deformation in the deck material.
See it like an electrical fusible.
Ideally the fluid don’t burn every time.

the point is that intercept airliner is not the main mission of fighter aircraft, the main mission is air superiority, SEAD, CAS , penetration strike , may be anti ship…. etc that why SA and Stealth are emphasised, if you only want to intercept airliner fast, you would only need the old f-4, f-106 they are fast and cheap
But the force structure doesn’t come for cheap. Unless you have already a multi-platform airforce, what less and less country have today or will have in foreseeable future.
Some have argued that a fast trainer, supersonic, could do the job of air policing. The fact is that this is valid only while the threat is predictable. If you have, let’s say an attacking force mick-mocking an airliner to penentrate your airspace and send only a light armed trainer, it’s the same as sending nothing if we speak only in term of capacity to mitigate the effect of a surprise attack. And this is all about deterrence.
So, the debate is not only around what platform to choose but more about the financial capabilities of a given state and the missions given to its airforce.
We will probably see Airpolicing evolving toward a combinaison of unmanned supersonic drones tasked with the identification/liaison of the threat and dispersed SAM in the role of the Killer. Or, perhaps, the platforms will evolve themself in a High/Low mix of configuration for a given airframe thanks to modularity.
Anyhow, the recent polemics in Sweden, the financial burden of the Baltic policing or the increased cost of monitoring vast airspaces with the next generation of fighter might force a new trend to surface faster than anyone might have ever predicted.

Yes. JA37 has had FBW system similar to F-18 Hornet, with reduced stability margin and secondary mechanical control system.
Attack version AJ37 and its derivatives did not have FBW.I think so.. In 1979, the JA37 was fully developed with first series examples (sn 37301 onwards) having already been delivered.
