While any death is tragic. Irwin was always a camera hog. Some call his act enthusiasm, I just saw it as egotism. A lot of time the animals he wanted to film would be just sleeping, and he would go and pick it up, forcing it to lash out at him. But hey, it made for great TV. Oh well, The Crocodile Hunter was a Hollywood character, and he died like a Hollywood character.
Just let this be a lesson to people. Wild animals like people just want to be left alone.
What nonsensical rubbish, google is your best friend, try researching Steve before you come out with such trash, I never saw him make animals lash out at him, your obviously viewing something different to the majority of us, he was far from a hollywood character, you were right the first time, he was full of enthusiasm, enthusiasm for the love of his work, and he acheived so much doing it, more than probably you could ever realise in your lifetime, so do us a favour, have a wee play on google for 30 minutes, you may even surprise yourself
Oh & well said Phantom
well said you two
Steve’s Australia Zoo is just down the road from my wife’s aunt, been there a few times, a wonderful place to visit, never actually got to see him which was deeply unfortunate but you can see the legacy he has left behind and we know that Terri & his children + his dad will keep the good work going, most touching moment for me about Steve was when he was describing the loss of his mother in a terrible car accident, may they be united and RIP.

Its not called a Stingray for nothing and it has to deal with Sharks and Killer Whales that are a damm sight bigger than a human is. It is also a fish that will leave you alone if you leave it alone. 😉
But then that’s indirect speculation that Steve was messing with it, the pure facts are not out yet so let’s not speculate aye? all we have heard is that he was swimming above it at the time and it became spooked because the cameraman was close by as well, also this time of year the stingrays are on the lookout for tiger sharks so are extra alert.

Well he did once dangle his one month old son infront of a croc, you call that ‘professional’. Okay he knew what he was doing but there was still that danger, an unpredictable croc or a snake could have had him. If I remember rightly he did a few times get bitten by a snake. So my point even if he knew his crocs, does that give him the right to stand 6 ft away frm them enticing them to jump towards him?
Regards
AJ
I think you need to look a bit deeper into it, keep an eye out on Discovery regarding Steve’s life so far, Steve is free to do whatever he feels is right, professional or not, if he dangled his son in front a croc then that was his choice and he knew the risks, I saw the episode where he did that and I didn’t see what all the fuss was about (although I’d never do that with my kids) but again that was his choice.
And what gives him the right to stand 6ft away? the right of freedom, he knew what he was doing, and who are you or I to say whether he has the ‘right’ to undertake such activities or not? end of story

Well if you dance with death eventually your luck will run out!
RIP Steve
How do you work that out? he was a professional, and a superbly gifted one at that, he hardly diced with death because he knew what he was doing and he knew how to handle everything he encountered, if it was you or I eyeballing a croc or a snake etc then fair point, but this chap was different 🙁

It was actually a joke Mark
Absolutely shocking news 🙁

Great
Perhaps another media hyped program to scaremonger the general public
i think it will be a good idea because if some was just to take their video camera to the airport for the day, there would be nowhere to put it becasu its not a trip report
How do you work that out? what is this main forum for?
From an impartial point of view I think it would be a waste of time as well, but majority wins as they say, I just cannot see enough videos being posted on here to warrant it, and I am unsure as to whether it will get used, I guess it’s the same as picture threads, we have a dedicated photo forum but not one for pictures already uplaoded to airliners.net etc, these kind of pics & vids which are uploaded to different sites do not get posted enough (in my humble opinion 🙂 )
