…
One entry had me chuckling, “The ornithopter flew sucessfully until it’s progress was arrested by a tree”
by the by, i remember a salvage squad episode, where they rebuilt an old puss moth (or something very similar) with the last entry in the loogbook being
“pranged kite into hill”
they had a wonderful way of wording things back then 😀
ill second that, all the best to them, someone has to keep historic british jets alive (not that the SHAR is historic, but its been retired 😛 )
glad someones flying one, SHAR looks nicer than the GR9 imho
small brake fire 😀
something with wilbur wright at le harvre?
first fully controlled flight with a woman passenger, Camp d’Auvours near le mans?
sod it!
jon you are too quick for me 😀
the only aviation related thing i could find was the first powered aircraft related fatality, which was Lieutenant Thomas Selfridge when a wright brothers aircraft crashed after one of the props cracked… though this was at fort meyer in virginia, picture doesnt look much like virginia :/
more clues please 😀
id venture that the fairford picture is newer at least (art just aft of the exhaust stack) and also taken a little earlier in the takeoff run
thats a hell of a picture! i hope it is real, do you have any dates as to when it was taken?
…id thought it closer to 100 :D:D:D
i think there is considerable difference between modern aircraft and a 270 year old ship,
Victory, was designed for, built and indeed spent many years, afloat on the sea. so her being outside next to the sea, wouldnt cause the same damage in 4 months that would be caused by leaving an aircraft, like a vulcan, outside. (wales air musem at cardiff i think is a good example) yes it costs masses to maintain, etc
what i like about how she’s displayed, is it almost looks like she’s afloat, as you approach her, just looks like she’s tied up at a dock!
what i dont get about the jag fleet, is why they arent being run into the ground out in the east, the harriers, from what ive heard, dont take to the conditions that well
that B&W, is just stunning. truly a beautiful aircraft
looks like waddo?
thankyou 🙂 at least XM655 and a few others will benefit 🙂
im afraid its not my one 🙁 i always wanted to build it but never really had the funds, nor any support from the LMA (which you need really) they thought it was too ambitious for a beginniner (i thought if it was my money, why couldnt i build it?)
they do fly of water though, and with an 80cc inline twin, fairly fast too 🙂
ill get round to building her one day
