Im Slightly confused here, if she were to become airworthy then people wouldnt be allowed near her? its already been mentioned that she would stay at EK and hardly like she’ll be away from the airfield months at a time. she’ll do fast taxi runs still, even better instead of stopping at the runway head, she’ll pull back fly her display and then land. so little of the intimacy lost with the addition of a flying display? i cant see what everyone is griping about
im all for it, at the end of the day three things are important to bare in mind,
1) Its their aircraft
2) Its their money
and
3) its their airfield
i am happy for them whatever they decide to do 🙂
i remember a massive thing in flypast about it? beautiful aircraft its the F-14 we want!!!
1) TSR.2 – stunningly beautiful totally unproven, i want her to show the world that she truly was a world class machine!
Complimented on either wingtip by a pair of
2) EE lightning F6 – an incredible machine that inspires awe and respect
so i think that formation would just be amazing but i know it’ll never happen, i can dream at least
Ben

dunno the news doesnt look hopeful, i read somewhere that she’s not expected to fly until mid august.
Ben
cheers for that cestrian :), would have been awesome to see it on the sunday though lol
When I bought my advance tickets, there was definitely a bit on the website that gave the prices for the advance tickets and the ‘on the gate’ tickets, which were over £10 more expensive. This is something they have recently decided on, presumably based on the advance ticket sales.
We always book into one of the enclosures too, just to ensure a reasonable view as the crowd line gets too much of a bun fight … so overall (including £3 for sending our tickets out by 2nd class post), the cost of our day out at RIAT is >£100.
Think we will be setting of at about 4am to try and avoid the inevitable Police traffic management farce that seems to contribute to most of the snarl-ups.
Edit: Presumably everyone wants to see the Airbus 380 which is only flying on the Saturday…
will the A380 be there on sunday though? even if its not flying
hehe i love the typing elves, they are a mysterious species indeed!!!
id only just found out myself but it appears ML407 has flown since though i assume this is all old news now? glad the damage wasnt too serious 🙂
just perusing google for any possible scale three view drawings of the vulcan, and found a good 5 pages of walkaround photographs of XM606

she looks to be in fairly decent nick, compared to the aircraft next to her (look at the elevators to the left in the first picture)
Ben
dont blame her, she’s not exactly young is she 😉
i read somewhere about a chinook lifting a lightning, didnt it seriously mess up the chinook in question
brilliant photograph!!! it would have been nice to have taken 607 off her stand and towed over to the pan next to 558 though.
