Nashio – It’s more than a rumour -it’s what TVOC have put in their paperwork from day one. Quite why Duxford would want two Vulcan’s is beyond me especially as the past history with duplicates isn’t sparkling i.e Comet 2 and 4
and the two Varsities. Whilst the aircraft has had a lot of money spent on it – the Vulcan already at Duxford is more relevant from the point of view of historical accuracy unless TVOC intend to spend an absolute fortune reinstating all the kit removed from her .

thanks david 🙂 just thinking that there are probably better places for her to end up

a question that has been raised before, but not really answered. the rumour mill has said that tvoc intend to retire her to duxford when she can no longer fly etc. so what happens to the vulcan already there, i cant see them really leaving 558 outside after all the money and effort spent on her. just one of those things that is jumping round my mind this evening

everett have 3 complete JP’s that could potontially be put back in the air from £7.5k-£19.5k
(19.5 for one that has been put on the civil register and has an expired permit to fly) i think 25k is a lot to ask for a SHAR like this

james everett has a complete shar on his site with only 1291 airframe hours and 800 odd on the engine, sold as a complete aircraft, not bad?

i know its a good film, even though old Mel Gibson is a bit of a t@”s@r.:D

“We were soldiers” gets me every time, at the end of the battle, when the war corespondent is asked to please tell the story of the men who died, and the scene when he is on his typewriter, Very moving, and the poor ******s coming home with no one to greet them,
sad thing is , Is History repeating itself,

the Populus and media seem More interested in BB, and all the other crap, than the poor sods out there fightin a war, makes me MAD :(

I would send em all to afghanistan and Iraq, Then THEY would see real REALITY, let alone Reality TV

Also a really good film called “Brotherhood” about the Korean War, , a Korean film with subtitles, it is Heart wrenching, and one of the best war movies i have ever seen, All i can say is Watch it, It will have you in tears for definate come the end, !!

dont think mel gibson is in saving private ryan lol

if its Alien technology, why not just leave an egg in there, watch ’em go one by one with the face hugger etc- less contamination in the gene pool, more entertaining than watching them cook etc…..:diablo:

now that would be entertaining TV…..

definitely would be, though, i cant see it being shown uncut before the 9pm watershed, which would be a shame 😉

We could put the word out that one of them’s a Cylon agent and watch them tear themselves apart.

this again, an excellent idea, though didnt this sort of happen with the transvestite last time or whenever it was?

the final Cylon is hiding in there…………. no way, Grace Park, Lucy Lawless etc, they are far too attractive to be stuck there….;)

seen the latest one yet, guess who the fifth one is :diablo:

personally i think a scenario much like “Battle Royale” would be interesting, probably have to expant the compound somewhat :diablo:

of the ideas posted so far,

    1) put an alien egg in the big brother house, and watch the mayhem ensue!
    2) a lancaster with a grand slam bomb! *evil cackle* (though would they have been able to hit it dead on with one?)
    3) Battle Royale (use your imagination really ties into the first one somewhat)

any of the above three, a pair, or all of them would be excellent viewing

haha would have been a winner 😉 just out of interest, the handley page aircraft that was deisgned to meet the same operational requirement of the avro 730, the HP.100, apparently was fully mocked up, does anyone have any pictures of the mockup??? could be interesting 🙂

All I seem to see these days are helicopters, I can hear the historics rumbling past behind the trees and you get the odd good view.
Late yesterday afternoon I walked up into the town and saw a Spitfire heading west, it was too far away to make out any detail but it looked and sounded like a MkV or IX.
Saw a strange one on monday afternoon, it was a Merlin, first one I’ve seen over here, but it had an odd dark grey/light grey camo scheme, I didn’t know whether it was RAF or Navy but compared to other helicopters, I thought it was very quiet.

a quiet merlin!!! i used to live next to benson and they definitely arent quiet :p lol

to be honest i can see what you’re getting at, both designs are as streamlined as possible but the similarities are awfully similar to just be co-incidence is my feeling. i only wish id flown on concorde, imagine concorde with 8 oympus engines!!! two below and two above the wing, in identical nacelles! that would have been a monstrous aircraft, definitely a rocket :diablo:

cheers garry, i added some more to the initial post, as i also meant to include fuselage profile too, the 730 was a very interesting project, can you imagine and airforce of TSR.2’s Avro 730’s and the supersonic hawker interceptor, oh my days what could have been… *dreams wistfully*
