… imagine what an airforce we would have had with these aircraft!!! man the government suck (concerning tsr.2) everything was destroyed, construction jigs the lot, someone made sure that she would never fly again! wilson had a lot to answer for!
do you have a higher res version of that picture please, has to go as my desktop background!
Ben
pretty sure that they are all civillian owned, having been put up for auction when they were retired. my understanding is that 134 has been put on the civil register (G-OMHD) and will fly again sometime soon, just wondering how soon is soon 🙂 the canberra truly was a hell of an aircraft! i mean, the americans bought it didnt they!
i know its not a fighter, but i still reckong that the TSR.2 would have been truly something to behold! accelerating away from a lightning engaged in full reheat whilst only engaging reheat on one of the engines!!! any aircraf that can accelerate away from a lightning must have been something else! and for an aircraft of its size! are there any modern aircraft of the same size that had the same sort of performance?
speaking of that, whats happening to the recently retired PR.9’s at kemble?
…On the down side I could not be any more dissapointed with the reaction I got when asking to look around the Victor. I realise I cant judge the whole team there by his actions, but he could not have been more clear if he told me to f… o.. I wont be asking again.
What is with people at the moment! it must be the heat, the pictures look fantastic 🙂 was it worth the epic walk? :p
i would definitely definitely want to go see her with the reds!!!
ah its ok, the heat does funny things to as all :p
I get now that there, is no possibility of there actually having been a tallboy bomb anywhere in the pacific. i know that the movie is complete fiction, like i said before “could there be a tallboy in the pacific” the answer, so bluntly pointed out, is no!
Cant see why some are being smartalec about it, it was a legitimate question!
just scanned through the movie, and i can positively state that the guide says “tallboy bomb, english drop in WW2”
come on! have a little respect, i did mean comedy value in stallone! 😀 althouth the killing in burma was a sobering point 🙁 anyway, now having been told the truths, i can rest easy
cheers all
dont listen, to him he obviously got up on the wrong side of the bed, i enjoyed it 😉
to put it in the words of the teletubbies
“AGAIN AGAIN”
lol
this seems to be turning into a personal battle (perhaps the mods could clean it up a bit?), possibly keep the subject on the thread, i.e 558′ come on guys what is the point?
*quitely sulking and in a quiet voice trailing off*
well it was a good movie …. :p
i know the whole thing is fictional, also i know that tiger force was disbanded before it was deployed due to the atomic bombing of nagasaki and the end of the war in the pacific theatre. having re read my inital post i can see that the question isnt quite clear.
what I meant was, is there any plausibility behind this? were there any dropped in burma by the raf or indeed anywhere in the pacific, or were they never deployed to the pacific theatre at all? i was just interested to see if it might have been a possibility that somewhere there was a tallboy bomb.
the ensuing explosion ……. :diablo: hehe i also like how the local tracker who must be half the age of the bomb, knew exactly what it was who dropped it and its nickname! 😀
here’s hoping, i want to experience a vulcan doing the vertical climb, ive seen it on youtube, but my get tells me that nothing can prepare you for the sheer power in real life!
