can i suggest a late night forum meet up in hull?

Bring your own drink and nibbles, and disc cutters, lifting devices and perhaps if anyone whats to drive in a flat bed truck?

we can call it the ‘freedom hunter’ night

i rather like that idea… all those in favour?

having just had a browse through the tvoc website, todays update

“Vulcan prepares to soar as supporters rise to challenge!

A major milestone has been reached as supporters continue rallying to the call to ensure that Vulcan XH558 is seen in the skies around the UK this summer. A campaign launched last month to bridge a funding gap created by the current economic conditions is proving successful. The Vulcan to the Sky Trust is announcing the start of the work to resume the remaining test flights to return the aircraft to air displays.

“The response we are receiving from our supporters to our appeal for funds to ensure we reach the air display season this year is very heartening, so much so that in the last few days, I have felt confident enough to authorise the commencement of preparations for the remaining test flights”, says Dr Robert Pleming, Chief Executive of the Vulcan to the Sky Trust (VTST). “Every week’s delay in starting this work was costing us money, so despite our need to keep on raising funds, it is the right thing to do.”

“Once again, our supporters are significantly exceeding our expectations”, continues Robert Pleming. “Thanks to their ongoing hard work and generosity I am delighted to announce that we have also received, from two major supporters, dedicated donations of £150,000 to specifically fund the Test Flight Programme. But the decision to proceed could only be made by trusting in our supporters that the fund-raising momentum will continue. We still need to maintain a donation income of at least £50,000 per month to make it to the airshow season. Once we make it to our first few airshows, we are convinced that we will see fund-raising momentum continue and sponsorship interest increase substantially.”

the first part at least certainly seems hopeful, but £50k a month! hmmm 🙁

Paint it pink, stick a flower up the tail pipe, aanounce that it an art installation pertaining to ‘The Futility Of War’ and they will probably give you a bl**dy grant.

THEN……………………………….rev the nuts off it! :diablo:

loving that idea, though no one seems to have asked what aircraft the chap is looking into buying, i wonder what it is? my first thought was a JP or a Gnat possibly… i hope he gets one sorted 😀

its alright from the side, but from the front it looks bulbous and assymetrical sorry to say, i think that people now love the looks of these aircraft as they are becoming a rarer rarer sight in the sky 🙂

There is this boy in my form, who is rather annoying.
lets cut to the chase h once said “i would rather see a f22 fly than vulcan xh558” ok thats his opinion but what did once say was “xh558 is a bucket of bolts” 😡 (that made me really annoyed, cos its not)
what do think?, would you rather see a f22?

p.s can you also explain to him that there was no Seaking in the film “TRANSFORMERS” (Which i don’t like, its a bit boring)

    thanks 🙂 🙂 🙂

hehe the helicopter he obviously confused was the Green CH53 Green Giant, and ill admit they do look a little similar though the CH53 is a good 1/3 bigger. To be honest i dont think too much of the F22, it has none of the style and charm that a vulcan does, it just looks like all the other american interceptor types (no offence guys there’s no denying its capabilities) definitely 558′ though the F-22 seems to have a good corporate sponsor 😀 😀

i noticed a MASSIVE difference between my separate visits in 2001, then in 2003, at least a 40 foot drop in water level at the damn end! i just thought they had dome some experiment lol, if she could be walked to, someone would recover her or steal parts from her, i suppose thats one of the pro’s of being a submerged wreck, less likely to have parts stolen in the dead of night!
