Why can’t the CAA be as open minded as the South Africans for example?
I have a pet theory that the CAA have a man in a van at Bruntingthorpe with a few Stingers in case somebody gets carried away on a hi speed taxi run.
LOL how can that be untrue, it sounds just about right for them :diablo:
A nice aspiration – unlikely but not totally impossible – would be to see a Typhoon burning up the runway at Fairford and going ballistic closely followed by a Lightning from Thunder City doing the same!!
since these aircraft are registered and flown in another country, wouldnt they be allowed to come to fairford? makes some sense in my head. what are the legalilties concerning this?
IMHO we should pull out of the Eu and tell them where to stick all of their useless rules. Worst thing that ever happened to this country joining that bloody organisation!!
second!!! :diablo:
is the insurance problem due to the EU stipulating that ANY aircraft over a certain weight is classified as an “airliner” 😮 and therefore has to be insured as such including baggage insurance! 😮 😎
No helecopter can actually fly. They are so ugly, the earth repells them…
I’ll give him a tenner for it. Then burn it.:dev2:
dont you dare! there is nothing wrong with a whirlwind! its such a shame to see one in this sort of condition 🙁
not too keen on the dragging of the engine blocks!!!

Lockheed EC-121 Constellation 😎
brings tears to my eyes……. very powerful images.
thankyou for sharing also
nice F-86 in the background of pic 5. does it fly?
If it was as difficult to eject from the meat box as has been suggested, perhaps MB have failed to notice these difficulties….afterall their test aircraft is still a twin seater Meatbox….;)
And they are not very secretive about it…..
so the eurofighter seats were tested in an aircraft almost 60 years old??? 😉
my thoughts exactly, if that was the case, would would maybe have a complete “physical” library of british aviation development, something i would pay big money to go and see!
related to this topic, any news on the He 219 and the smithsonian? apparently the wings are being restored to go with the fuselage. americans are lucky ******s in that they seem to have a fair few unique german aircraft arado 234, do335 Ta152 (as discussed)
(courtesy of wikipedia)
quite a beautiful aircraft in her own way
there is no way that that strut braces the fuselage enough. the airframe stress must have been massive! torsion between fuselages etc. also the website link given above shows one in flight without a strut, and either scratches or being attacked bu AA fire, also looks to be one being intercepted by Dh vampires! thats a very interesting photo!
There are a number of aircraft on that list. Some are identified by brass plaques on the outside of the aircraft. Hurricane LF363 is an example of this.
Some have plaques inside the cockpit.
I guess there must be a full list somewhere.
Incidentally, LF363’s plaque was round very bent and twisted on its original forward cowling when the aircraft was being repaired at Historic Flying. It was carefully straightened and replaced in the correct place…
Bruce
butu why do none of the other prototypes in the “Experimental hall” have this plaque, surely some if not all, should have this. i understand wh the TSR.2 doesn’t but others like the type 188 for example and the prototype meteor etc
that spar seems to be in quite good condition, has it been restored??? or is it original?
