😮 how did so many of these beautiful aircraft end up getting blown to pieces? it really is a crime! i suppose at the time no one thought that they were historically significant?
just looking at the wiki page, anyone know the fate of XF923? it says “unknown” could it have ended up at shoeburyness like XR219?
if that was the case then maybe the 188 would have had the performance that was expected?
could have been the second prototype built?
i seem to remember reading somewhere that when the sperrin was sold for scrap, the engines were, by some messup left in the airframe. so they had to buy the aircraft at considerable expense to remove the engines i wonder who got the sack for that little c0ckup?
jeez, listen to the sound it makes 😮 😮 😮
probably do the 1st
hey guys, im sure someone will know this. due to the fact that 558 has lost quite a fair amount of weight during her restoration, will that mean that stress on the airframe will be reduced when flying her display or general flying? less mass acting on the airframe at the same speed? if this is true then would her flying lifetime be extended somewhat due to the reduced stress?
i read this thread, and look at what could have been, and what the Raf could have been…:(
yeah i like the idea of that, we all have name tags with our user name and actual names on? 😀
reminds me somewhat of the complete wellington tail section in moreton in the marsh 🙂
not to be too strong, but it was a vile act for which he should have hung! 😡
got my vote 😀 😀 😀 😀
….. I think just completely inept goverment decided it was cheaper to buy American aircraft, and wern’t interested in the health of our own aviation industry, progress, or its empoyees.
has much changed? i think it still is 😉 has much changed?
i think what we have is a mis enterpretation, i can see that the title could be read either way, both of you are right, in this instance however the topic is covering a RR Meteor Mk IVB engine, just edit the thread title maybe? 🙂
