Are you swapping in a spare Griffon or refreshing the one that was on the aircraft?
The one that has been swapped was sold to dubai for wind testing, we have got a fresh 0 hour engine from our stores to swap, but there is still plenty of work to be don
Do you have to re-inhibit the engines after these ground runs? Isn’t there a danger of internal corrosion if you don’t? Another long term problem will be the provision of Avgas 4 or 5 years down the line. The tree-huggers are not keen on it now and I can’t see that getting better any time soon.
The engines as far as im aware havent been inhibited? they are all full of oil, and the levels and tanks are checked on a weekly basis 🙂
there is now a project thread that ive started here – http://forum.keypublishing.co.uk/showthread.php?t=97478

looks pretty accurate to me 🙂
am I the only one that will be totally gutted to never see her fly again?
I just think she needs a new management team…
If thats any help? 🙂
Ive got some photos lurking on my pc somewhere, showing XR220 on its side after being dropped off the lorry, do you have those?
that seems to happen in many forums i frequent 😉
strikes me as being fairly cheap???
doesnt look like it, though i may be totally wrong!
If there are two airworthy Lancs in the same country, I’m almost certain there would be a formation. Now… if CWH could be persuaded to join them, and all go to Duxford, they could get KB889 out on the flightline and have FOUR Lancs in a row!
I love your thinking matey, I was thinking the exact same thing!
If you wanted to go the whole hog
FM213 – CWH Lanc
PA474 – BBMF – Lanc
NX611 – Panton Lanc
KB889 – IWM Lanc
MW232 – IWM York
XF708 – IWM Shacklebomber
XJ824 – IWM Vulcan
Now, all of the above on the ramp together… that would be something else 🙂
you never know what is being planned 😛
will it be at….? :diablo:
……Cockpit-Fest 2010?? 😀

VC-10 has another three or so years of service yet, even though the majors finish at the end of this year.
Nimrods, I’m a bit out of touch with these now but I didn’t think that the new version was cleared in sufficient numbers to replace the MR.2 yet?
Was thinking Hercules C.1 and 4, but understand that they are still required by SF duties.
With regards to the nimrod, I believe there is a thread on this forum somewhere indicating that the MOD intend to retire the MR2 two years before the intended in date service for the MRA4
Though, I could be wrong?
