Interesting comment, though if you have read any of the statements from the Panton brothers, you would realise that the work that will be carried out to get her airworthy again is to be entirely funded by them
Well if it’s VC-10s you want to watch, bring your biscuits and tea making skills here, you will see them perform in a far sportier fashion than at Brize.
If you had met any of the locals from the villages surrounding brize… you would understand :p
That said I was there one families day where one of the Vicky tens did a low pass, full flap basically on the glide. got overhead and let it rip, i seem to remember a gazeebo going flying :diablo: im sure someone got the butt seriously chewed out for that 😀
Everyone is on form tonight! love it!
Sounds even better!!! Guinness is always good 😀
you and I will get on just fine 😀
“How about i bring the beer? :D”
Yup ! I’m In !
Those VC 11, MD 10, L1110 … type thingy’s look so much better after a few beerzzzzz ?
Keith.
thats going to be in my signiature now 😀
all this talk of cake and tea is boring lol
How about i bring the beer? 😀
They did indeed have 301’s. Didn’t know the 301-engined ones were howl-less, sure ‘655 squeaked out a little howl-let when I went down to see her do her thing a couple of years back…:D
im sorry lol XM655 definitely does howl! :diablo:
The howl, I think, is air resonating in the intake, and is id imagine is down to how quickly the throttles are accelerated. since Wellesbourne has a miniscule runway, i would say that they dont give her the full hog, just enough to get her going 🙂
That said im probably wrong and all of the above might be rubbish
You can hear the engine runs in stratford upon avon (3 miles away!)
558 has 201 series engines and howls, 655 has 301 series engines and does not howl. no point argueing with me cos im right. 😀
she obviously speaks a different language :diablo:
Its surprising, i was sure ive heard 655 howl before! not as loud as 558 but i could have sworn ive heard her howl
DO IT!!!
To be honest it always makes me suspicious, when at athe 11th hour, there always appears a generous extremely rich benefactor who wishes to remain anonymous….
im just trying to imagine the classified advert for XH558
For Sale – One Avro Vulcan Nuclear Bomber

please someone fill in the rest with sarcasm, after todays day work, my sarcasm gland is empty :diablo:
Hi there, that sounds fascinating! Is it a problem that i cant speak a word of portugese?
What costs would be involved?
Many thanks
Ben
you must have good binoculars in france :diablo:
come on guys, rich is a sound chap. He is one of the few people dedicated to looking after WR963 at coventry, he comes from nottingham every thursday to spend a few hours out in the cold with the rest of us.
I think perhaps like me he often gets over enthusiastic, a trait that far too many people regard as something bad.
Now then back to the black hole that is XH558 😀
