Anyways, I’m curious…..who does Herc glass cockpit upgrades besides the new Boeing program?

    SNOW AVIATION INTERNATIONAL, INC.
    http://www.snowaviation.com/
Is working on a privatized modernization program for older herks…They currently are using N130EV (a former WC-130) and she is fitted with the same HAMILTON STANDARD NP2000 EIGHT BLADE PROPELLERS as the E2C2000 and the modern C-2
They also have a glass cockpit in her and is looking good.

N130SA is an old 55 herk that they also have the glass cockpit in as well…

I wonder if they are having all the problems converting to clean power that the USAF has had… It was a bitch with our planes and we never used it…always had the circuit breakers pulled out and never used the clean power.

Was it a Civil German C-130 or in Luftwaffe markings? German UN?
    Was it grey or green?
Did it have a square tail or a rounded tail? 🙂

Did it have two engines or four? 😉

And lastly, if I’m not mistaken, Bush bragged that he didn’t need help after 2001.

    N

As I remember, Bush said “If you are not with us, then you are against us.”

Meaning he would like all the help from the rest of the world.

There is no one in the US that believes we can do it alone.

    Unimog
    or Air Unimog /Airnimog
    Flying Unimog

In the car/truck world the Unimog is one of the best off road vehicles ever produced and a nice symbol of Europe.

It doesn’t really matter how you see it.

The A400M incorporates many fighter technologies, including a very advanced FCS system, an advanced ECM… that will make it much better to have in anger than any other transport plane.

    Nic

I was not talking about sensors and defensive systems. I was talking about flying out of short 2500 ft dirt strips where you have one pass for landing and your aircraft better not chock on take off. The C-17 can not do it. The J model is not at that level yet. I was just voicing my concerns about the A400M.

I am not slamming Airbus for its efforts. On paper it is a great plane but so was the C-17 and the C-130J…they just have not panned out in the operational arena.

I hope to see it succeed. That is an area where you need more and more heavy loads into more remote Fields and the old and true C-130s are just getting tired. There needs to be a replacement.

Now if you are talking about just flying into a threat area I am all with you…it will have some systems to keep it safe.

So now you’re going to add in all the politicking before the spec was issued to the development time, I see. On that basis, the C-17 & C-130J projects both began in the 1960s. C-17 entered service in 1995, & C-130J in 1997, after a long period of changing requirements & politicking. Working back to the point discussion began can get rather silly, don’t you think?

The C-130J started in the 1960s? so it was on the boards before the C-130H? Hell, the Lockheed HTTB (N130X c/n4412) did not even enter the picture until 1983. But in the end…its still a rendition of the good ‘ol C-130 still around since 1954 🙂

show me about the C-130J planned since the 1960s 🙂 I’d like to see it.

So come back & say it’s late when that doesn’t happen.

    I will bossman…

Airbus has the failing A380 to deal with. With everyone jumping ship on that bad boy and the cost going through the roof…you think the A400m will save Airbus?

Will the A400M fly? Sure it will. Almost every modern military aircraft in the past 30 years has been delayed…no matter what nation you are talking about. Its a bit obtuse to come out and say that the A400M has never had a delay, and never will.

The aircraft that is is slated to replace are in dire need of replacement. The C-17 is too big and expensive. and is also not very tactical (she tears up all the dirt LZs she goes into)
The C-130Es are OLD.. the C-130Hs are showing there age and the C-130J has a whole lot of problems in itself.

Will the A400M be the saving grace? Europe (as well as Chile, SA, and Malaysia) better hope so because there is nothing else.

But I personally do not see it as a a down and dirty tactical airlifter. They will use it just like we use the damn C-17…Stratigic airlift

    delays

    Why? It hasn’t been delayed.

It’s rather irritating that so many people see any mention of any Airbus product as an opportunity to make extremely stupid attempts at jokes. If they were witty, or funny, no problem. But I haven’t yet seen one which is either.

If the first flight was scheduled to be in the first quarter of 2008 (per Airbus website) and there isn’t anything to show for it. I would say that is not on time…

So, why these two F-15s have not flown back then??
    http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-3891823241542584312

If that ever happened in real the jewish pilot deserves the tribute rather than the American plane. In 99% of mid-air accidents when a wing is lost end that way, but whenever a Jew flies the aircraft he will land safely even with both wings ripped off. 😀 Anyway, it happened during a taxiing mishap or whatever on the ground and after they fabricated the mid-air story making fools out of people. Remember, if you tell a lie often enough it will become true.

I believe it did happen in the air. Just because the American F-15s did not make it home does not mean that there is proof that the Israeli pilot could not have landed. The American planes could have been much more damaged…or the pilot felt it was better to punch out.
If he had known that there was no wing left I am sure he and his back seater would have punched… he seemed only concerned about one thing…regaining control. He added power and the aircraft became more stable.

I do not think it was a training/lack of training issue.

also..if it happened on the ground…where are the skid marks? Taking that much of a wing off on the ground would have taken a lot of speed..and a lot of force…The F-15 is a very strong aircraft, the wings don’t just pop off.
